Purrs please for my poor little Siamese 'baby' Rhia who was spayed
about 10 days ago and went back to the vet today for the stiches to be
removed. The vet said she was too swollen around the wound site and
needed to be kept quiet for a few more days (have you every tried to
keep a Siamese quiet!).
At the vet's suggestion she's now confined to my spare bedroom with her
litter-mate Amy, who was 'done' at the same time and, despite my
efforts, removed most of her stiches herself! Confining them to an
infrequently -used room does make 'escapes' a little less frequent, but
I'm going to miss sharing my bed with the dynamic duo.
Incidentally, in trying to keep them confined I've come to the
conclusion that all cats were trained by Houdini, but that Siamese came
top of the class!
Ta,
John

Gotta disagree with you. Every Siamese I've known, and I've always been
owned by at least one, could teach Houdini a thing or three.

Purrs on the way. And try food. Lots of food. That's the only thing that
ever keeps mine still. Unless it's locking themselves in the towel
cupboard!!

Purrs for the swelling to go down and Rhia to get the stitches out
next TEd visit.
Note: Sammy removed her stitches too. At least she waited until the
day before the TED visit when TED was due to take them out ;-) It was
kind of funny, since at the time I was new to cats and had been
checking each morning to make sure she hadn't bothered the incision
during the night. Then, the morning when I was to take her back for
the stitches to be removed I didn't check, and when we got to TED the
tech checked and asked how long the stitches had been out. LOL TED
just laughed and said Sammy did a good job and must have been trying
to avod another office call.

Purrs for Rhia. I'm sure that has to be scary!
Loved your Houdini reference. When we got Merlyn spayed, I nicknamed
her that because they told me to put an Elizabethan collar on her to
keep her from bothering the stitches. She may not be Siamese, but
she is a Princess Cat with a capital "P". I'd put the collar on,
check her 15 mins. later, and it was off. Put it back on, tighter,
check 15 mins. later, and it was off again. She'd be sitting there
looking quite proud of herself, too. We finally just gave up, and she
managed to get through her recovery just fine. But I still call her
"Houdini" on occasion.
