From Little Boy:

Ever since I came to live here, all the other cats (except Unca
Buster) have been mean to me. Dulce Mae hissed and slapped me. Little
Feet ran away and hid when I wanted to play chase. Both Little Feet
and Dulce Mae kept calling me fat butt and lard butt behind my back.
And even to my face!

If I tried to touch noses, I got hissed at. If I tried to play, I
either got hissed at, or they hid from me. They didn't seem to
understand that as a growing boy [Mark: seriously growing], I need to
be able to cut in front of all the grown cats, when fresh food is put
down.

But today they surprised me!

I was walking on the kitchen counter, helping with the cooking, when
one of my back feet slipped, and my um... ample tummy dragged me off.
I fell, and only bruised my dignity.

Well Dulce Mae and Little Feet both came over to see if I was okay!
And they both started grooming me. With not a hiss or a growl!

Maybe brofurs and sifurs are okay after all.

Hugs and Purrs,
Little Boy and Mark

Isn't that strange about cats.  Mine (3) just tolerate each other and
sometimes fight but when my boy got a blocked bladder, both girls went up to
him and one of them started grooming him!  I was shocked.  You could easily
see that she was worried about him.  And when I only had the two, before he
came along, one of them was wearing a harness and leash while outside; I tied
the leash around a tree as a bent down to tie my shoelace;  of course, at
that time, the neighbour's cat (who my cat hates) decides to saunter by and
my cat lunged for him.  The force of her lunge caused the part that goes
around her throat to push against her throat and she was hacking that day and
night.  After a vet consultation, we went to sleep that evening but she
didn't come onto the bedroom that night; she stayed in the living room.  I
woke up in the middle of the night and noticed that the other cat was not on
the bed either.  Where was she?  Out in the living room taking care of my
lousy feeling one.  It is so touching to see them care about eachother.  But
as soon as they're all well, it's back to tolerating only!  I'll never figure
them out.

So sweet!  At least they show compassion when it is needed.  Purrs for
continued friendship.   MLB
