I read in the news this morning that the Dallas RSPCA will OFFICIALLY
no longer euthanize healthy cats.

Yay, Dallas!

Hugs and Purrs,

I didn't know the US had the RSPCA,  I thought the "R" was only in
Britain?  But that's great news, shame they don't do it over here, I
keep trying to get the word out that if an animal "has" to be taken to
a rehoming centre, don't take it to the RSPCA.  My friend just got a
cat from them and she said it was so hard to decide which one to take,
knowing that the others might by PTS, sad innit?

Actually, the 'R' is only in England and Wales, not Scotland or Northern
Ireland. It's also used in Australia, I'm not sure abot Canada.

So how come they use it in Dallas, or does the R mean something else
there?  I didn't realise they don't use it in Scotland or N Ireland, I
wonder why that is.

I wonder if that was a typo, I've only seen reference to SPCA from US
posters.

That's why I was confused, I can't imagine why the US would have the
"R"!  I wish we didn't for that matter, but that's another discussion.

What does the "R" stand for?

In US, it *should* be ASPCA - A standing for American:

ASPCA is just for New York City, though. Most of them are SPCA in
the USA.
