Doing this in one fell swoop!:

Happy birthday to Bono! May you have many, many more.
CGTS to Jean and Wilson! We have a star in our midst.

And now for some health news. My cataract surgery went swimmingly well last
Tuesday. No pain anywhere except I have a swollen parotid gland, don't know
where that came from and I am sucking on sour lemon candy to try and
alleviate the discomfort. The eye is brilliant a bit wobbly still with
sight, but now I can see from it and quite a bit sharper than the other one.
It itches like hell which I hope is a good sign that it's healing. Have to
keep putting drops in for about another week or so, and sleep with a shield
over the eye. Lily kept jumping on the bed and peering at me as if to say:
what the f***, Mom. What IS that?
Anyway, Doctor says go and do everything you were doing before, just no
lifting or bending deeply just yet but everything looks good.
Thanks for all the purrs and prayers. If you're going to go have surgery,
cataract surgery is the one to have, LOL!

Welcome back! I'm glad the surgery went well. Lots of purrs for the itching
to stop soon and for everything to settle down. Will you be having the other
eye done?

Adrian, hopefully the other eye doesn't get so bad that I have to have it
done also, but I will if it warrants it. Not soon, I hope. :(

Isn't the difference after cataract surgery amazing?  In another few weeks,
it will be even more noticeable.  In the meantime, tell your doctor about
the itching, even if you have to make a special call.  There are drops they
can prescribe for that.  I know, more eyedrops, but you put in only one
drop, and it really does stop the itching.  Actually, you may need the
artificial tear kind of drops indefinitely, as the surgery sometimes leaves
you with dry eyes, but it's still worth it.

Thanks, Joy. Actually I did talk to my doctor and she said she didn't want
me to put anything else besides the meds in my eye but to try a cold
compress on it for relief. So I just told myself MIND OVER MATTER and if I
don't think about it and keep myself busy I don't notice the itching. Heh.

He he, I've just posted about my dad's op then I saw your post, glad
yours was successful too!  It's quite amazing the difference it seems
to make.

See?  We told ya' it wasn't that big a deal.  And you'll be amazed at
the vision improvement.

However, please DO pay attention to the doc's instruction about bending
and/or lifting for a few weeks.  I understand that either activity can
cause retinal detachment (and corresponding vision loss) -- *not* a good
thing!

Glad to hear it came out OK.
