Well, the inevitable has happened. We managed to hold out for a whole
week, but DH admitted this morning that he really, really likes Potjie
/ Jet and that if he doesn't work out at Dad's place then DH will be
very happy for him to come back here to live.
Mind you, I am very confident that Dad will fall in love with Potjie /
Jet just like we have.
But DH and I will miss him like crazy when he's gone.
A friend (Dewi) once said that it took about 4 days for her to fall in
love with (i.e. decide to keep forever) any cat that came to stay. It
took a day or two longer for us, but the principle remains the same.
Once you get to know them a little bit, it's already too late becuase
it means they've worked their furry way into your heart.
This morning the little fluffy-butt spent a couple of hours playing
with us. It started shortly after dawn when he got the zoomies and
careered around our bedroom - banging into things and generally being
an adorable idiot. Once DH had woken up a little more, he let Potjie
out of our room so he could zoom around the rest of the house. After
that we found Ted's old tie and played "hunt the tie" for an hour or
so. In between "hunt the tie" Potjie played "hunt the hoomin" for
fun. He plays hard, but neither DH nor I have any scratches or bite
marks on our hands as a result of this play - Potjie is such a good
boy and seems to know our limits. It warms my heart to see him acting
his age.

Heh. I knew that was coming. However, it's good to integrate in case
you ever need to watch him for your dad or anything.

Awww! not that this is a surprise, really. We all know how they can
wheedle their way into our lives.
BTW, is that the Dewi who used to post here? Do you know what happened
to her?

Yes, that's her. I've lost touch with her, but last I heard she and
her DH (and all their cats, dogs and chickens) were moving to Brisbane
in search of work. I hope that she and the mob are all doing well and
are happy, where ever they are.

Excellent! So this gorgeous stray has TWO potential homes. Well done to all
concerned.

Five, actually.
There's Tish's father and Tish herself, but I'm sure he could have convinced
Joel that he was worth keeping (he already had me well convinced), I think
Flippy would have gladly given him a home too, and htere was a girl at work
who gently cussed me out about not telling her a day earlier - she *loves*
exotic short hairs and wanted a black one (she ended up getting a moggy from
the RSPCA, but still) and I think my sister was wrokin gon *her* DH as well.
I can't possibly imagine what would possess a person to purchase a pure bred
exotic cat (they're not cheap or common), and then just get rid of it like
it was yesterday's leftovers, *especially* one so charming as Potjet. I
mean, at least have the common sense to take it back to the breeder if
things don't work out. Sheesh.

I'll be sure to let Dad know how lucky he is to have been given
permission to keep him :^)
Actually, I'll point Dad in the direction of RPCA and suggest that he
posts regular updates on how fluffy-butt is settling in.

*Hugs*. I know *exactly* how you feel. That little guy will have many many
visitors when we all get to Rainbow Bridge!

Aww, it warms mine too. I'm glad he's stoopeed acting like a 'stray' and has
found his 'inner hoolikitten' again.
Give him a scritch and a hug from the Wollongong branch of his fan club :-)

I don't think anyone reading your post will be surprised. :-) I hope your

Yeah, that's why the idea of re-homing the bitties didn't work.
Assuming they're weaned at 8 weeks, that STILL gave us 5 weeks of
"being their mother"....MORE than enough time for us to fall hopelessly
in love with them.
