And very cute photos they are! Beware those of you who haven't read abpa
lately, there's a troll flooding the group.

Mary, would you mind e-mailing them to me? I can't access them. Would
love to see them.

Yes, I'll be glad to.  A troll is sending *massive* numbers of junk to that
newsgroup, so I wasn't sure if people from this NG would be able to get
through.

Most of the recent posts to ABPA have been from "Wango"; while he or
she keeps making disparaging remarks about cats, the posts do indeed
contain pictures of animals, making them on-topic for APBA.  If you
are referring to some other troll, their messages are apparently being
filtered by my ISP.

They may be on topic but the flood of messages is against the TOS of his
ISP. Also many of the pictures are copyright and he continues to post even
when the copyright holders have asked him to stop.

Yes, I was referring to Wango.  Granted, this is not the typical troll and
perhaps I should just have said "flood," but anyone who posts hundreds of
photos in a single mailing is deliberately making it difficult to find
anyone else's items.  Many of the photos he posts are gorgeous -- but it's
also difficult to tell which are his own.  Still, I wouldn't find it such an
annoyance if he would post a few a day instead of several hundred a day!
Anyone without broadband probably can't access the NG at all.

I have a PictureTrail account, and someone suggested that I use that
instead.  I'm going to do that soon -- set an album for "recent pics" and
then direct people there.  I don't think anyone would have problems with
that account.  I will post links to some of my current PictureTrail albums
under my signature so you can see if that gives you access.

Beautiful pictures. :-) Am I right that Duffy is blind?

Yes, Duffy is blind.  He is a remarkable cat and can do almost anything a
sighted can can do.  There are even some contributors to this newsgroup who
claim to be "Duffy's fan club" -- and he deserves it.  He is charming,
happy, active loving, everything positive  that I can think to say.

These are great pictures.  It is hard to believe that beautiful active cat
cannot see.  His coat looks wonderful.   You have taken good care of him.

Not all servers carry all newsgroups.  I read text groups through
news.individual.net, since they block more newsgroup spam than does my
ISP, but I have to read binary newsgroups (i.e., groups that allow
attachments), such as alt.binaries.pictures.animals, through my ISP's
server, as news.individual.net doesn't carry binary newsgroups.

I just went there to check out the group downloaded a bunch of pictures even
got a new background picture.  But what a bunch of whiney a.ses are in it;
whining about a poster posting so much

And this type of statement is why at one time I had you kill-filed. The
reason why people don't like floods like this is because it can push
posts off the group that they want to see. Read Catnipped's post for an
example. Oh and the word is whiny not whiney.

Hundreds?  More like thousands.  I haven't been able to get into abpa
recently since I have to access it through biggulp.readfreenews.net.
When I finally got into it this afternoon there were 9,626 new posts.
After I deleted all of Wango's posts there were only 900+, and a lot
of them were referencing the Wango posts.  Wango needs to get a new
hobby.

ARGH!  Got there too late.  Some idiot (wango-tango?) is "flooding" abpa and
your post got pushed off before I could see it.  Is there a web site you
could post to or email them to me?

There's always usenet replayer at
http://www.usenet-replayer.com/groups/index.html

Just look up the group you want and check out the pics.

I will email them to you.  I am also going to set up a "recent pics" album
in my PictureTrail account some time within the next few days.  Then I can
post and everyone should be able to access it.

why is no one using   alt.binaries.cat   to post cat pictures  is it not a
usable newsgroup for everyone
MaryL - 30 Jan 2006 08:37 GMT
> why is no one using   alt.binaries.cat   to post cat pictures  is it not a

Alt.binaries.pictures.animals has become almost useless (at least for the
time being) for almost everyone, regardless of subject matter.  One person
is flooding the NG with so many photos -- many obviously not his/her own and
many sent at precisely the same time -- that others are literally pushed
off, and anyone without broadband probably finds it nearly impossible to
even access the group.  That's a shame because many people used to post
photos of our pets -- not great photos when evaluating for photography
(although there was also a lot of that), but loving photos of our wonderful
pets.

It would appear the flood has now ceased, hopefully this means RR have
pulled his account.

Probably because few servers carry it.

I believe you  can request that your server begin carrying the newsgroup
