Caliban is a fairly typical teenage cat, who is far more interested in
thinking up mischief and annoying the hoomin than he is of cuddles and
huggles. Every now and then, though, I'm subjected to what I've started
calling the baby-love attack.
I'm sitting in my chair, watching TV, when suddenly, out of nowhere, a
Caliban lands on my chest and starts tramping about and purring his
fuzzy little head off. He flumps over on my chest, then gets up, takes a
few turns, then flumps down again. Repeat, repeat, repeat, purr motor
going full blast all the time. He snuggles up to my face as if he's
trying to get in under my skin. Paws treading all the time, everything
they can reach, my shoulders, my chest, my neck, my face.
Then he usually settles down for a while for a nap, purring on my chest,
until he tries to get more comfortable, stretches out, and usually falls
off. Or rather, he sort of oozes gradually off me onto the floor.
I can see into my bedroom and my bed from my chair, and last night I was
sitting there, looked over, and saw Caliban apparently fast asleep on my
bed. I looked back at the TV, and just seconds later I was again
subjected to a baby-love attack. It would seem that even a soft bed is
no substitute for some good hoomin lovin'. If the hoomin is in bed,
though, that is an excellent opportunity for a baby-love attack. I get
one every morning at about 5.

Cleo is not as affectionate as Cali or Smokey, but she has always been very
clingy, hence her 'Klinger' nickname. We think this is attribuatble to her
territorial nature rather than affection. Its my Hoomin and you can't have
it. But every morning when I wake up to answer the call of nature (also
around five) she gets up on my side or shoulder, depending on my position,
and starts kneeding me like a loaf of bread. The Purr motor is also at full
throttle. I usually get similar treatment when I get home from work.
She's made a good addition to the tribe, despite her possessiveness.

Ah! You're supposed to move your arms, so as to form a perfect bed for
him! That's what we do anyway, we've been well trained by our crew. Or
comfort is secondary, their comfort comes first. :)

Awwww.... isn't that the best way to wake up?

I do hold him as long as I can, but he's just too heavy. When my arm
starts getting numb, I lower it a little to rest on the arm rest, but
that's when he usually starts oozing down on the floor. :oP

Sounds familiar. =o)
Nina can periodically become the Velcro Kitten. I was watching TV a
few nights ago, and she decided she HAD to sit on meowmy's lap and get
RIGHT IN MY FACE for a love session. And of course, I couldn't resist
that little face, or the full-volume purrs.
Fortunately, she has matured past the point where she must LOVE ME at
five a.m. She waits until about 7:00

I love it. Thought I suspect it is behavior that is born into the little
darlings so we won't kill them in their sleep after some of their shenagans.
Jake, out almost middle aged, mostly dignified Siamese still has daily
cuddle and tread attacks. You can see that it embarrasses him a little at
first but once he gets into it he is most persistent. "You will cuddle me
now!"
The dog can even get up and sniff his butt when he is in full tread mode.
(Milk treading = biscuit making = kneading)

Lily does much the same thing, except it's when she just wakes up and wants
to cuddle. She will jump on my chest wherever I'm sitting and start to knead
and purr and head-butt and nibbling on my arm. This lasts usually around 10
minutes or so and then she's off doing something else. :)

Smokey is the one who does this in our family.
Nox demands worship and the bitties like to climb on us and snuggle at
night or curl on our laps, but if Smokey wants the kitty luv he ain't
taking no for an answer. He's wrapped phone cords around his neck,
spilled drinks, flopped on keyboards, smudged ink, shed on knitting,
chewed thread....it can get really annoying sometime, particularly when
he damages stuff, but it's hard to be angry at someone who just needs
to get some affection from you.

Awww. I wish I had some baby-love around here. With Boot's, it's "You
can pet me now...whoops! Too late. You can't pet me now." With Frank,
it's "You can pet me but don't pick me up. Ever."
Bikkie is my most affectionate. She circles my feet meowing, and I know
now she wants to be picked up and loved on.
