Whenever Lily is close to me she has to be licking me. I guess she enjoys
the way I taste? I love the feeling of her scratchy little tongue, too.
She and her brother are now finally matt-free again and what's more, they
seem to have realized how good it feels to be without matted hair, because
the matt-clipping sessions got easier and easier toward the end.
Both Billy & Lily are also now demanding daily brushing of their entire
coats. This is something they used to mostly fight against, but now they
eagerly seek it out, often more than once a day.
Meowmie is very pleased.
However.
Tommy and Eli have noticed the extra attention being doled out to B&L and
are demanding equal lap time. I don't mind holding them but it does get to
be a burden at times. Abelard has been seeking extra lap time as well - I'm
sure it's not related to jealousy in his case, though.
Baby Eyes and Beatrice seem content with their regular lap-sitting sessions
so far.
All in all, my lap is occupied nearly 100% of the time I spend sitting.
That's a lot!

He looked a fierce and quarrelsome cat
But claw he never would;
He only bit the ones he loved,
Because they tasted good.
(and do you think I can remember who wrote that? Nope.)

My guys both hated being brushed at first, but they *love* getting their
faces brushed. So I'd brush three times on the face, then once on the
body, then gradually increased the number of body brushings. I still
can't get them to let me brush their bellies, though. :-(

I brush or comb TuTu every day. Today I discovered that she has started
shedding her winter coat.I don't understand this in the middle of winter.

Early signs of spring? Animals are more perceptible about such things.

She is grooming you.
Cats often show affection for fellow cats by grooming them. Kumani and
Tyche groom each other incessantly, Smokey loves to groom them and they
let him until he gets too rough, and Even Nox will groom the bitties
sometimes.
So why shouldn't cats show affection for the human members of their
colony by grooming?
Nocturne grooms us often. She never sees us lick ourselves, and
SOMEONE has to take the responsibility to keep us clean.

This makes sense, but then I wonder why the others don't do the same thing.
They're all fond of me, for sure, but only Lily regularly gives me a good
licking. Once in a great while I get a couple of quick ones from Billy or
Baby Eyes, the others almost never do it, even if I ask them to.
