jmcquown - 22 Jan 2006 20:43 GMT That's what I call her. Persia is a rumble bug. She taps me and rumbles. She climbs up on me and rumbles. She's purring all the time. Rumble, rumble, rumble. Hey you! Pay attention, I'm rumbling! Purr, purr, purr. Hey you! She's loud and rumbling. RRRRRRRRR. :)
She wants attention. She's purring. Hey, hey, hey, purr, purr, purr. RRRRRRRRRR. Hello? I'm purring. Yep, purring. Pay attention.
She wants you to pat her. She wants attention. She needs to be patted. Hello, I'm purring. I'm snuggled up against you. I'm purring and on top of you. I'm tapping you and saying "hi". Sleepy Bye! I'll purr in your ear. I'll tap your nose, dear. Hey, you, I'm right here!
Signed, Persia

When you get a purry wet nose and whiskery snout in your ear, you're not sure whether it's pleasant or annoying. :)

It means Persia thinks of me as more than a food repository; I think she actually *likes* me ;)

I frequently end up having to distract her, as having that raspy tongue keep licking the same place gets painful after a while. Every once in a while, she will groom my beard for a couple of minutes, which I allow as that doesn't hurt.

My mom noticed him in the shelter-- a tiny bit with that funny face right up at the front of the cage, meowing his head off (which I now know was "HEY PEEPLE! LOOKIT ME! LOOKIT ME! HEY! LOOKIT ME!!!!") When I took him out of the cage and held him, he snuggled right up on my shoulder, purring away WILDLY-- if it's possible to purr wildly, he does it. Gotcha!!!

I only let her in because it was freezing cold outside and she insisted. The purr-factor definitely helped win me over :)

Gotcha!!! That's how Caliban sealed the deal with me, too. When I visited him at his foster Mum's, he woke up, saw me standing over him, and immediately started purring and kneading with his front paws. Then he kissed my hand and purred. Then he climbed up my arm to my shoulder and purred in my ear and kissed my face. Going - going - gone!

Gotcha!!! It was Sammy's purring that decided me to keep her when I was finding homes for LB's kittens. Foolish me, I thought it meant that she'd be extra cuddly. Turned out she purrs - loudly - when she's happy, but doesn't like to cuddle much. One of my favorite things about her is how she'll fly across the room chasing a bottle cap when we're playing fletch, and then she come running back with it, purring the whole time.

She is probably too busy right now to cuddle. When she gets a little older, I'll bet she will want to cuddle, Best wishes. MLB

Yeah, Dante, too. Pretty soon after he settled in here, he just got WAY TOO BUSY to bother with much cuddling-- oh, BTW, he's a fetcher, too, and brings back stuff purring.
But when he's all tired out, he will collapse-- purring-- in my lap. ;)

As soon as she's had sufficient sucking she hops down and then fastidiously licks her toe dry! ;>
