I've been feeling awful (the tooth extraction wasn't such a simple thing
as I thought at first) and not up to posting, so have to send blanket
purrs all around. We've been snowed in here in Helsinki, with temps at
-20 C (-5 F) with wind chill to match. Up north, they are having up to
-40 C (-40 F), with a record of -47 C (-52 F). This morning when I
opened the door to the enclosure, a magical world of white could be seen
outside; it had been snowing all night:

And it continued through the morning, but the afternoon was glorious and
sunny (and blinding, with all that clean white snow!). The cats have
been playing outside (as seen from paw tracks) for short periods of
time, but their paws get cold pretty fast, so they are wanting in, then
out, then in, then out again all the time. When they are in, they tear
through the flat like wildebeest across the veldt.

Sometimes they have to warm themselves up, but it's hard for two cats to
fit behind one laptop (5 pics starting here):

We are Not Amused (Miranda showing her snooty side):

I still have all the cards on my wall, and some on my desk because they
didn't fit on the wall:

Thanks again, everyone!

Sorry to answer my own post, but I got this wrong:

Up north, they are having up to
> -40 C (-40 F), with a record of -47 C (-52 F).

-40 is the lowest they've had so far this winter. And by up north, I
mean the part of Lapland that is in northern Finland.

Purrs for the dental pain to heal up fast, Marina!  And purrs that
Caliban and Miranda will keep warm.  But it sounds like they have great
fun in the snow for short periods of time, anyway. =o)

Oh, the dental pain is long gone. It's just that I got a course of
penicillin to remove the infection around the site (which was painful a
few days), which led to the discovery that I've developed an allergy to
penicillin, and now I'm on a course of antihistamines to combat the huge
itching bumps that appeared all over, which made me dead tired, and also
the cold in combination with my scleroderma caused an excruciating pain
in my arms. But everything is much better now. :o)

I'm so glad you're feeling better. I hope the weather warms up soon, a lot
of people in northern europe seem to be suffering. It is surprising how much
milder Britain remains due to the gulf stream, without it I think it would
be nearly as cold here.

Glad you're feeling better now, and welcome back, and lovely pics,

They are so adorable.  Reminds me of how when we lived in Anchorage Alaska
or dog and Siamese would beg to go out and play in the snow just like little
kids.  And it we found a stray patch of snow when we were hiking in the
summer they would just go nuts rolling and running in it.

Sounds lovely. It's even colder today, and not even Miranda wants to be
out more than a few minutes at a time. She's been sleeping on top of the
radiator today.

Can't blame her for that.  See if she'll scrunch over and make
room for you to sit up there too.

What great pics Marina! I can just picture them trying to go out,
looking back at you wondering what you did.  :)

I hope you're feeling better.

Poor Miranda climbed up her pole today, just to find her walkway covered
in a thick blanket of snow. She hesitated a long time before she climbed
up on top of it. Poor baby. I think I'll have to get them those small
snow shovels. ;o)

I'm so very sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell, Marina (dental
stuff is so scary).
I can't imagine going out voluntarily when it is so cold! Thanks for the
lovely pics!
We are sending lots of healing purrs, gentle hugs and best wishes just
for you, Marina,

Ouch!  Sorry to hear that, GL.  Now that Marina is on the mend
we'll shift the purrs going out her way to the warm-weather
variety.  You can have some of these good dental purrs that she
doesn't need any more.

She doesn't look snooty! She looks very sweet and contented!

Actually, she just looks sound asleep. She evidently likes that
kitty tree!
