Boyfriend *hates* the door to be shut so he can't escape if he thinks he
needs to, like if a visitor comes.  He is better than he was, though.  He is
okay with it being closed right now, in the evening, when it's all quiet
here.
If I have gentle cat-loving visitors, I don't take any notice of his pleas
to be let out the back door as soon as they come in the front..
Instead, it is understood that they stay in the sitting room while he is in
the adjoining kitchen with the door open in between.  They know to ignore
him, even though like most cat lovers, they are itching to make overtures to
him!
Sometimes he will stand in the doorway between the two rooms and stare at
the visitor now.   Once or twice he has taken a few steps into the room.
This is how I am addressing his social phobia ;-)

It not dat I not like bee-en onna in, but I likes it wen *I* wants to be in,
like wen it raining, snowing, windy or cold.  Or wen I wants to take a
littel nap on der spare bed ;-)
