My sleep has been poor, and when I tried to get out of bed and really
was too groggy, Mr. Clark and his staff have intervened.
I tend to sleep on my side. Mr. Clark usually starts out on my chest,
but he's really too heavy, and eventually stretches out next to me.
Ding is lighter, and may stay on my legs.
Several times now, Mr. Clark seems to have concluded I needed to stay
in bed. He'd climb on my side, give me several loud distinctive
MiiRRPs, and then s-t-r-e-t-c-h his legs and sink his claws into the
mattress, holding me down. Picture a pair of giant furry staples.
Occasionally, he'd look at Ding and tell him to hurl himself across me.
Rhonda, typically, was marching around giving her "adore me" sound.
I don't think I want to know how much Mr. Clark weighs. With his
orange fur, he reminds me of a Buddhist abbot trying to look like the
Buddha.

Well, our masters do know best :)
I've been meaning to ask you, are Mr. Clark and Ding named after the Tom
Clancy characters?

Yes, Mr. Clark and Ding are after the Clancy characters. Rhonda is
named for COL Rhonda Cornum: petite, competent, afraid of nothing and
adrenaline junkie.

Mr. Clark sounds like a cat I wouldn't want to cross.

Most of the time, he is extremely gentle and affectionate, but very
confident. I've never seen him hostile to a human.
Rhonda occasionally seems to say a Bad Word in Cattish, and he may bat
her across the room.

lol! I can just picture that!
I've been sick lately, and had more than a cat or two in bed with me,
doing nursing duties. Particularly, Brando and Arthur, the Two Tabby
Boys. Both really like to curl up close to my body, so when I have to
move, with Brando on one side and Arthur on the other (and maybe Trill
or Merlyn or Wolfie at my feet), it's near impossible!

It's been very chilly at night lately, (at least by California
standards) and so Pan has been spending his nights lying on top of me,
but under the covers. It's really very sweet, and mutually beneficial
for us, as he gets to stay warm, and I get to stroke a purring, furry
hot water bottle.
Problems arose last weekend when the girls had a chase race after
lights out. Panther got galloped over in the dark as did, I but I took
it with rather more good temper. Pan sank all his front claws into me
in his unhappy surprise, and swore loudly at the girls.
I said "OW!" but much more loudly, and not in those words. =o)
Howard, I love your description of "Giant furry staples" and the
Buddhist Abbot about Mr. Clark. =o)
