I managed to take the girls by surprise this morning... Scouty was
sleeping in the box under the window and I just petted her and she
purred and I scooped her up and put her into the carrier without a
fuss! I know she won't let me do that again in a hurry but I was
incredibly glad not to have to traumatise her by chasing her around
the apartment and cornering her... Silly was on the bed with John so
he picked her up and I brought the carrier to her, and she didn't make
a fuss either. Of course as soon as they realised that they couldn't
get out they started crying... they mewed pitifully all the way to
Boca :(

We let Silver out of the carrier when we went into the exam room and
we cuddled her and she kept trying to get out of our arms to sniff
everything and explore... We left Scouty IN the carrier with the door
closed because she's too strong for us to manage her when she's upset,
and TEDs make her very upset.

TED said they're very healthy cats with no fleas or parasites... I
don't know WTF I 'saw' but there were no worms in the poopy sample.
Maybe I imagined it... I got him to check Scouty's mouth because she
hates chewing and we thought she might have a bad tooth, but he said
her teeth look fine - she's just a fussy eater. And Silver now weighs
more than her sissifur! Scouty was 14.1 pounds and Silver was 14.5...
so Scouty's lost weight on their diet kibble and Silver's gained, but
she's also grown.

They got their rabies and distemper shots (and Scouty was VERY good
and didn't try to run away from the needle) then we put them back in
their carriers and brought them home and they seem to have forgiven
me... I just called them for kitty treats and they both came running!

The purrs obviously worked. :-) I'm so glad both cats are healthy, and I'm
sure they're glad it's all over.

I'm glad everything went well and they got a good report.

Rudy (RB) was a master of the pitiful yowl.  He would start, with a yowl
about every 15 seconds, when we put him in the carrier, and it wouldn't stop
until we let him out of the carrier when we got home.  We'd take him in for
shots, and he'd get all sorts of sympathetic attention, with people saying,
"Oh, what's the matter with the poor kitty?"  He really sound as though he
was in pain.  Instead, he was just being a pain.  ;-)

I didn't realize they were quite that big.  Is that trim weight?
I think of Heidi as fairly big, but her 14 or so pounds includes
a little that probably shouldn't be there.

You say that Silver has grown -- how old is she?  Heidi
surprised us by continuing to grow for a year after the vet
guessed she was already three.  (I really think he must have
over-estimated.)

Silly and Scout were guessed to be six month's old when we adopted
them... and that was fourteen months ago. I THINK they're at full size
now - they're no Sammy but they're as big as little horses! When they
got their microchips six months ago, the vet said they were getting
too fat and told us to put them onto diet kibble asap. So we did and
it's stabilised their weight... I don't think they need to lose any
weight, just as long as they quit gaining! They're not small cats by
any stretch of the imagination...

Glad to hear it went so well.  Our Smokey goes on a leash, but our Missy
despises her carrier.  I guess if the only place I ever went in it was
to the V*T, I'd despise it too.

At least our V*T gives us an envelope with a treat each to be given when
we get home so they forgive us pretty quickly.
