I was just talking to my sister on the phone and she told me about a
robbery from her local "Cats Protection" shop. Two teenage girls went
in, one of them distracted the asistant while the other stole ?100
pounds from the till. What kind of people steel from a charity?

The good news is, after the theft was reported in the local paper with a
request that people call in and donate ?1, they raised over ?1000, more
than ten times the ammount stolen. They now have enough money to
refurbish the pens at the shelter, so the cats waiting for homes will be
more comfortable this winter.

A house is not a home, without a cat.

That is low. Although I'm glad they got such a good response from the
community, I hope someone finds those two girls :(

*I* hope the two girls don't read the paper and go back to get the proceeds
from their low-down theft.

Glad the community pitched in and that the animals will benefit.  Do
hope those low-down girls get caught, though, and soon.

Out of the bad, good. Great stuff. Purrs to the donors & poo to the
thieves.

That really *sucks* :-(((  At least some faith in humainty is restored
by the overwhelming donations received in compensation....

That's good news. I hope those girls spend the rest of their lives stepping
in dog muck, getting shat on by seagulls and pigeons, and having their
kitchens invaded by bugs of every description.

Grrr.

The Lord works in mysterious ways. Who knows? Maybe the girls really
needed the money? Think of the consequences: the CPL got ten times the
theft and a lot of people felt good donating to a worthy charity and
got to take it off thier income tax, as well. And the CPL got some
good advertising.

Man, people need to steal more....

In other words, its a shame that they only got the extra money because of
the theft, if only they would have got the donations normally...

The kind who might need to do well-supervised community service at the
shelter.

Is community service a sentencing option in the UK?

It is an option, but I doubt those girls will be caught for that
particular crime. Sooner or later they'll be caught for something
though.
