I had a sudden craving for Cheerios, the oat cereal in the shape of a
tiny doughnut. So I got some, and when I poured myself a bowl, Smudge
was right there next to me, shoving her face at my food. She's not
normally like this, so I pinched a few from the bowl and put them on
the counter for her to check out. Crunch, crunch, crunch. Head back in
my bowl. More Cheerios on the counter, more crunch crunch crunch. She's
such a carb-head. And it's so cute to hear her crunching. She purrs at
the same time, and when her mouth is open, it amplifies the purrs.
Crunch/purr, crunch/purr, crunch/purr.

AAwww! That's what Nikki would do too. It sounded so funny when she ate
and purred at the same time.

I know, I love to listen to cats purr and eat at once. =o) Isadora used
to do that. Niina and Francesca don't do it very much at all.

This is something Smudge does a lot. She's a "social eater", meaning
that she has to have company while she's eating. This is much more
important for dry food than wet - she seems able to eat her wet food
without much encouragement. :)

But when she wants to eat dry food, she'll only go to the bowl if I
get up. She sees me getting up and trots off to the kitchen, meowing
and looking back at me, for me to follow. If I get a clue and follow
her (I don't always - sometimes I actually have other things on my
mind, don't tell her!), she's thrilled. She'll hunker down and start
eating, looking up every few seconds for me to pet her and say, "Good
girl, Smudgie, go ahead!" Then she'll go back to eating, purring very
excitedly. I can see the sides of her chest expanding and contracting
with the force of her purring. When she opens her mouth, you can hear
the purrs coming out of her mouth, which mixes with the crunch noises.
(And dry cat food crunches louder than Cheerios!)

Amazing what they like.  Dante will fight me for my morning oatmeal.
Stinky likes the crunchy stuff.  He especially likes shredded wheat--
he can bat it around as well as eat it. ;)

Maybe your sudden craving was due to mind control from Smudge :-) did you
forget your tinfoil hat? ;-)

You know, I don't even have a tin foil hat. Felines are your masters.
You will obey them. You will attend to their every need and wish. You -
HEY!! What's making me write that???!!

How funny! Mine beg for my Cheerios too, but only the leftovers. They
sit and stare at me like I'm going to drink all the Cheerio milk and
not leave some for them.

Yes, well, you would expect a cat to want to drink the leftover milk.
But Smudge is Not A Normal Cat. This is a cat who will tear through a
bag of groceries (carelessly left on the floor), *bypassing the raw
chicken* and package of cheese to get to the English muffins! She's a
carb nut - she loves to eat bread, pasta, rice, you name it.
