Well Sasha is suffering from has chronic kidney failure. She is still
at vets office for indefinitely. Her BUN (I think ) was 122 which Dr
said was very high. He also said the masses he felt were poop and she
was pretty backed up. Right now she is undergoing fluid therapy with
and appetite suppressant and kitty zantac. She is getting more blood
work in the morning and we will know how well she responding to
treatment. I am going around 10:00am to remind her she is not
abandoned and to fight for some more time because I am not ready to
say goodbye.
thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Linda. I have heard plenty of people whose cats
have had a good quality of life for quite a while after this diagnosis by
using SubQ fluids, given regularly. Can you ask your vet to show you how to
administer them?

Purrs and good thoughts are on their way for you and Sasha. Many cats
with chronic kidney failure can be treated nowadays and although the
disease isn't cured, they are able to have a good quality of life. I
hope your Sasha will be one of them. My Simon was diagnosed at age 19 -
I thought I'd lose him there and then, but he made it to age 21 with
medication and lots of love. Don't give up just yet!

Purrs coming from this side of the pond.
Hope the fluid therapy helps, and she is able to come home soon.
De-hydration can affect the BUN figures, so we'll purr that the fluids
help.
We went through this with Meg a few years ago. We were very lucky, and
after she was re-hydrated her figures all returned to normal levels.
She had mouth ulcers and couldn't drink and became dehydrated. The
initial diagnosis was that it could be kidney failure as her BUN figure
was high.
Purrs that the trip to the vet tomorrow brings some more positive news.
