I had an Aide chew me out and quit today. We had a disagreement nearly two
weeks ago, but I thought we'd resolved things. She picked up her paycheck,
chewd me out, slammed down her key and stomped out. She worked alternate
weekends so that Joanne could have some time off.

We'll be sending purrs that you can find someone well qualified quickly.

Eep.  I don't know the backstory, but good luck.

Without any notice!!???  Gosh, even when I've been really peeved at a boss
who did bad things to me for over a year, I still gave notice before
leaving!  And someone like a personal aide can't be replaced easily.

Purrs coming that you find someone nice, competent and dependable!

Is it not illegal to quit without two weeks' notice?

Anyway, purrs for a better aide.

In the US, not illegal to quit without two weeks notice, but just not
"nice".

Purrs for Suz to find another Aide in time for Joanne's next weekend off (so
I would guess this is also purring for Joanne?)

Nope, not illegal. Unprofessional, for sure. And in the case where
someone is very dependent on you, as with a personal aide, I think it's
unethical, but there's no law that says you have to be ethical or
professional. Well, unless you've signed a contract, and then you'd
end up in civil court, rather than being charged with a crime.

that was my first thought

I'll second those purrs. It really sounds like you needed a
replacement, even if you didn;t know it, so maybe  her leaving is a
blessing in disguise.

It's best not to burn bridges.  We hired a temp back in the 1980's to do
minor clerical work - stuffing envelopes and so on.  It was pretty clear it
wasn't going to be an exciting job, you know?  I saw her in the parking lot
on my way out to lunch; told her to to have a nice lunch and she smiled and
waved.  And then she just never came back from lunch.  We had to call the
agency; what happened to your worker?  They didn't know she just walked off
the job half a day into it without voicing a complaint or contacting them.
Wonder how many other jobs she got via that agency?

Eeek, that is mean spirited.  Many purrs and prayers for a new aide who is
very qualified and very pleasant to make an appearance very soon.
Charleen, who wants to know why Spicey didn't attack that bad aide!

Well, pffft. Sounds like good riddance to me. You don't need negative
people like that around you, Suz. There's someone great out there for
you who'll appreciate the job and appreciate your sweet self. Purrs you
find her soon.

I'm so sorry (though glad you still have Joanne). Good-aide-finding
purrs on the way.

weekend off. Jo' being nice about it. I'm defintely not perfect, but

Purrs on the way.  Sorry things worked out that way.  Sometimes,
