Well Sesame seems to be feeling a bit better and she has eaten all the
chicken I cooked for her, albeit in about 6 very small servings. TED has put
her on a drug called maxalon to help with the (I think induced by the other
drug) nausea. I didn't take her myself but apparently he advised that a
appetite stimulant would not be a long term solution whereas this would
hopefully get her feeling well enough to eat and then take it from there.

She's still pretty quiet but a bit perkier than the last couple of days.
Starting to feel like her time might be coming soon.

Thank you all for your purrs. Please purr for another kitty that was in
todays paper, was found on a building site with a metre long arrow through
her. No vital organs hit, the kitty looks gorgeous and is said to have a
sweet temperament. She will be fine.. and I hope they will find her a loving
family. I hope they catch the #&(#&( who did this to her.

Good news! I'd keep up the chicken until she's ready to eat regular
food. A short term diet of just chicken isn't going to hurt her.
Not exactly square meals, but they don't need the variety humans
do.  Thanks for the info about Maxalon - I haven't heard of that
one before, and I thought I'd seen them all with a kitty who had
IBD. Good to know!

Purrs for that poor kitty and litterbox offerings for the monster
who did that to her.

I've put out some dry KD food for her as well, hoping now that she feels
better she will be ready for her usual food again!

Purrs that she does.  I just looked up Maxolon, and see that it's the
same thing as metoclopramide .. yes, I've always had luck with that
for nauseous kitties. They even make it in an injectable form, but I
found out that most vets won't give you that to take home. Shame,
because it's fast acting.

I just saw you tell CN her age - wow! To not have health problems
until just recently is a testimony of your care for her. Good job!

The tiny bit we've given her seems to have made a difference so I'm
impressed. I don't think I'd be able to inject anything though!

Thank you :-) I think we were lucky to get a healthy cat too. She's always
been an indoor/outdoor cat, preferring to spend much of her time outside
when she was younger. She was never interested in wandering far from our
house. She always defended her territory very well though, and she was never
injured from a fight. She always scared other cats away with a hiss.
Nowadays we keep her inside as much as we can, although she still likes to
snooze outside during the day when its safer in the garden (no other cats).

I'm so glad that Sesame is feeling better, purrs that she continues to
improve.  How old is she?

Purrs for the little kitty that was hurt - I too hope they catch the
$#*&*^(* who did it.

She will be 21 around May we think. As my dad would say, she's had a good
innings! She was never sick at all until she was about 19. When I was two we
got her from the Cat Haven, she was the last kitten there and I'm told that
my mum wasn't impressed because she was an ordinary "garden cat" (tortie,
mum wanted something prettier). But she has a gorgeous temperament and my
mum warmed to her as well!

Wow, 21 *is* pretty old for a cat.  Bless you for giving her a full and rich
life!

Purrs coming that her remaining time with you is good.

I feel lucky to have had so much time with her. Thanks for the replies. I'm
off to work now (late shift, ugh) so I will update when I get home tonight.
