While Erin and the girls were here I didn't ride my bike at all - there was
always too much going on and I just didn't have the time.  I missed it
sorely.  Now that they're back home, and I can't find anything else to clean
;>, I decided to get on my bike again a take her for a spin.

When I was riding every day I went at least 20 miles per ride - 25 or 30 if
I was feeling really ambitious - and I could get a top speed of 24MPH.

Today I barely went over 5 miles, my top speed was only 18 MPH, and I'm
afraid I'm *REALLY* going to feel this in the morning.

Helen, Monique, other bikers, have you ever gone for a spell without riding?
If so, how long did it take you to get back into shape.

Yup.  I'm in an exercise dry spell right now, for some good reasons
and some dumb reasons.

Trying to get back on that horse, er, bike, can be really frustrating.

It really depends on how long it's been, how little you've been doing
in the meantime, etc.  Some people just get back into shape faster
than others, too, even with the same workout routine.

My best answer for you is "a while."  Just keep at it, and you should
quickly see improvement.

You're reminding me, though; I've been totally lazy, and I need to
snap out of it.  My wrist problems are back, which gives me an excuse,
but that really just makes it harder to get good exercise; not
impossible if I really put my mind to it.
