Wow Britta, it looks fabulous!  Congratulations.  I look forward to
hearing about the house-building process and the way in which you
determine who gets to mow the lawn (BEG).

I've never been to WA (DH has, doing a tour when he was a musician),
but it's definitely high on our agenda.

Oh, the lawn mowing is no issue.  Dennis really, really, really wants
one of those riding tractors (he's like a little kid when talking about
how he's getting his own tractor ASAP) so I'm sure he'll be out there
mowing it before we even build the house :-)

It looks like there's already a house on the lot. Is that building inside
the black rectangle (in the first shot in the series)?

Nice piece of land, I must say!

No, the house is not on the lot, it's on the next lot.  I just drew the
line through the house because of the angle the picture was taken at.
It's great because our lot is the only one with no house on it, so we're
not going to be in a new neighbourhood with a lot of construction going
on.

That's a beautiful piece of land! Love those big trees (eucaliptus?)
too. It's great that you don't have to cut any down to build your house.

The trees are peppi trees.  I have no clue what that is, some Australian
species.  I'll have to learn about that stuff when we get there.  There
are green and yellow parrots living in the trees!  I love that part the
most!
We also love how the trees would be behind the house and shield the
house from the road.  It's really very private.  We plan to put a fence
up in front and the sides, so Vino can go out but only in a small part
of the lot in front of the house.

This is FANTASTIC!  I love the shots, thank you, Britta!  And yes, you will
encounter black cockatoos and roos :)  I'm so excited for you!  Can't wait
to hear the plans about the actual house you're going to build there.
Congratulations!

Thanks, Jill!  It will be a couple of years until we can afford to build
the house but as soon as we begin making plans for it, I will be sure to
post about it!
The pics of the black cockatoos and roos were all taken in the
neighbourhood by Dennis or me.  It will be great for animal watching,
which is something we love to do.

Looks great -- how exciting to be building a new house!  Will you be
building it yourself?

Thanks!  We are thinking of building a rammed limestone house.
Definitely not ourselves, they need machinery for that.  We can do all
our own tiling and some other interior stuff though.

Thanks!  No, that's far off in the future.  The lot cost too much and
now we're broke!  We'll be renting for a couple of years until we
re-generate some funds.

It's wonderful!  Congratulations on being brave enough to buy it and take a
risk and may you all be very happy there.  Vino will love it, will it be
safe for him to go out?

Thanks, Tweed!  We will fence in a smallish area in front of the house
and make kind of a patio and yard area where he can go.  We probably
don't want him in the bottom 1.5 acres and we also don't want him behind
the house by the road.  We'll have to see how the snake situation is
too.  When we first get there we will be renting a house in "suburbia"
and from what we've seen, a small, totally fenced in yard is common.  If
we get a house like that, he can go out in the yard too.  But never at
night!
