Cherry Hill, NJ is near where I live, so this particular kitty's story was
on our local news. He's a pretty little furball who survived a 70-mile
ride clinging to the underside of an SUV. (The driver had no idea her
feline passenger was there, until another motorist saw him and flagged her
down.)

Not surprisingly, he's been dubbed "Miracle". I'm thinking he's used up at
least one of his 9 lives coming through this episode. I hope he gets
adopted by people who spoil him rotten.

Poor thing! He does not look happy in that photo. I sure hope he's able
to get over the trauma of that ordeal. I agree he's a pretty cat, and I
hope he finds some nice folks to give him a comfy home.

I saw the story yesterday - poor kitty.  I looked up the web site for the
shelter where he's at:
http://awanj.org/miracle.htm
there's a link to make online donations, too, through Network for Good.  I
can't afford to give fright now, with 3 kittens getting fixed in a few weeks
time, I need to save!

That is like Grant. Only he was just 6 weeks or so old. They don't even know
where he was but my coworker found him sitting in the parking lot after
work. He was black, sitting on black top after being driven 40 miles
somewhere on the outside of a van. He was very dehydrated. I don't know how
he survived to be honest.

That's how Demi came to us - she drove 30 miles in the engine cowling of a
co-worker's truck in order to get to DH's workplace 7 years ago (of course
he had to take her home after she went to so much trouble to get to him).

Sometimes I wonder if the cats I get that just appear in the yard out
of nowhere got here that way. Especially the one last year that had the
sore on its head. It looked like a burn.

I heard this story many times today. For the life of me I can't
picture what poor Miracle was holding on to to have held out for
the 70 miles.

The survival instinct of cats never ceases to amaze me.

As do I.

I'm surprised that Smokey survived a Canadian winter outside (people
said they'd seen him hanging around the forest since December 2001, and
I didn't bring him home until August 2002, having made his acquaintance
in June 2002.)
