Getting things into perspective

Hi everyone

It's nice to be back. The furballs had a splendid Xmas, Sarrasine
unwrapped her own Xmas present 2 days before the big one. She didn't
manage to get the toy off the backing through so she threw it in my lap
for me to do it! Redunzel got her own roll of toilet paper when we had
enough and let her keep one which was nearly finished she promptly
built herself a little nest and used the tube as a pillow....Awww....

But on Xmas day I really demonstrated the proper sense of
perspective...

We'd woken up late to the noise of two furballs having quite a serious
argument or at least it sounded serious. Dave got up to use the
toilet...Next thing he's yelling for me...there is blood all over the
bathroom floor!

Mad rush to grab furballs then Dave realises it's his blood- he's stood
on a bit of glass...

My reaction "Well that's alright then!"

He was pretty offended until I pointed out

1. If it's not major you will sit still while I clean it and put a
plaster on it (It wasn't major) the cats won't and  If its bad enough
to need hospital attention I only have to dial 999 and an ambulance
will come and transport you

2 If it was one of the Furballs, imagine the hassle of catching and
putting cat in crate. The hassle of finding a taxi or getting the vet
to do an emergency call out. Never mind the expense!

I think I won with that hastily worked out argument. Actually I was
more worried for them than for him

That's weird, but I'm the same.  I think, with me, it's that people, even
children, have some control over what happens to them - if nothing else to
voice their complaint.  Cats can't.

If they had been children instead of cats, I'm sure he wouldn't have
been the least bit offended if you'd attended to their needs first.
But a similar situation with kids would have the same issues - like
cats, they're also hard to control in an emergency.

Just wondering, is a "plaster" the same as a band-aid? Or are you
actually talking about something different?

Same thing as a band aid, band aid is the trade name for the commonest
one in the shops and their proper name is "adhesive dressings" so I
don't know why we call them plasters in the Uk but we do!

LOL! I would probably have reacted the same way.
