Hee hee. It's been an exhausting 2005. You deserved to turn in
early. Catty New Year to everyone!

Make Levees, Not War

I had a nice New Year's with my mom and her boyfriend in Santa Cruz.
We had a nice dinner, watched "Master and Commander", then walked
downtown to the clock tower in Santa Cruz. It was a very jolly crowd of
people gathered there, much dancing in the streets, and sufficient
distance between clumps of people that it didn't feel claustrophobic.
There was a brief, but very satisfactory fireworks display at midnight
to welcome in 2006. Then we walked back home, had a night cap and
turned. I came back this morning and the wind and rain were fierce, but
I arrived home safely with no problems.
I hope 2006 is a better year FOR EVERYONE here, but especially for
those who got whomped by Katrina in their various ways. Let's keep
healthy and happy, and hurricane free, folks! (Okay, I know that might
be problematical in Florida and along the Gulf Coast...
