My mom's 2 cats are outdoor cats. One hates the indoors and the other
likes to go in and out.

Early this morn, before light, I was awoken by my indoor cat Scat
scratching at the inside of the closed window and making little noises.
Something was outside and she didn't like it. I grabbed a flashlight and
shone the light across the yard. I saw nothing but Scat has never been
wrong, when there is something scarey in the yard there is always
something scarey out there.

I went and sat in the kitchen and listened. I soon heard a strange
clanking. I ran to the backdoor and there they were, two dogs. A white
one with pointy ears and a brown one with a flipped up tail. They were
big. I yelled in my biggest, gruffest voice for them to get out and go
home. I continued to yell til they left my sister's yard next door. I
sighed with relief, they were gone and all was safe...I thought.

Next morn come feeding time, bobo doesn't show. Mom calls and calls, I
call and walk all over the yard. Not a peep from bo. The sense of
foreboding thicken as we couldn't find him.

A couple of hours go by, I go back out and start calling again, my
elderly neighbor walks over and asks if I've seen Sammy, her cat. Sammy
didn't come in when called for breakfast.

I told her about the dogs and missing Bobo. So we both went looking and
calling, under bushes, in trash cans, etc.

While we were looking the guy across the street came over and asked if
we were looking for a cat. We said 2 cats. He said he ran off dogs from
his yard attacking a cat early that morn before light but the cat was
already dead when he got to it. He at first thought it was his cat but
it was too big and not the right color once brought into the light. Bo
is smaller than his cat so I knew it wasn't him. But it still could of
been Sammy. He said he had already buried him but if we wanted to see he
could unbury him. We both said no we'd continue looking.

I decided since I couldn't find the cats I would try to find where the
dogs came from. I walked the neighborhood with no luck, no dogs like
those I saw anywhere and no one I asked had ever seen them.

Back home I saw my sis and asked if she had seen either cat she said no
but she had accidently left he shed open the night before maybe they
were in there. They weren't.

More hours pass. I go back out and call again, this time with a bag of
snacks. I walk and call and look under everything. I go back behind the
garage like I had that morn.

I called his name shook the bag and was suddenly surrounded by squirrels
running along the fence, rustling in the branches. I started counted the
squirrels to hand out snacks to the critters. I put down the snacks and
heard a new rustle and looked up and there he was BoBo in the tree, the
very top, wanting snacks too.

I was so happy, I ran to tell mom. Now I just had to get him down...I'm
scared of heights. Mom called bro and I ran back out. I stood under tree
and bo decided the all day tree perch was over and shakingly down he
came, down to the last fork...still out of reach. I could just touch him
with my fingertips when I stood on a cinderblock. I pet what I could
touch and told him it was ok but then he got that look in his eye, I
knew he was coming down...on me. Sure enough he leaped for my shoulder
and he was down. I looked him over and other than a few scatches he
seemed fine.

So tonight moms cats are inside, even the one that hates inside, locked
in the laundry room. I am on dog watch, phone ready to call the sheriff
if they appear again. Sammy is still missing and I hope the cat across
the street is locked inside too.

Tomarrow I will look for the dogs again if they don't show tonight.
Relieved bo is fine, p

I can definitely relate to this story! Two months ago one of my cats
was attacked by two strange dogs. She survived, and has healed, but it
was a terrifying incident. The dogs turned out to be two strays who
had probably either escaped from somebody's yard (though they had no
ID), or were dumped in my neighborhood (more likely). Owners of these
dogs were never found - too bad, I wanted to present them with my vet
bill!! But through the generosity of people on this newsgroup, I am not
saddled with an enormous debt.

I hope you or one of your neighbors tracks down these dogs and finds
out where they belong, or removes them to a place where they won't
harm anyone or their pets.

Purrs for Sammy. So glad that Bobo is safe!
