Smudge had a nightmare!

I was peacefully tapping away on the computer, and Smudge was asleep
on the monitor, when suddenly she jerked awake and scrambled to a half
sitting position. Her mouth opened wide, her teeth were bared, and her
eyes went black. Then she just kind of deflated, with a confused look
on her face, as though she were thinking, "Huh? Where am I? What's
going on?" Poor girl! Maybe she was dreaming about pit bulls? :(

So I got up and stroked her, saying the magic words, "It's OK, Smudgie"
(which I swear she literally understands, because those words always
calm her down, even when spoken by other people). And now she is once
again sprawled out in the electronic warmth of the machine, hopefully
having better dreams this time!

Awww!  Poor Smudge!  Persia understands words, too.  Like "It's not time
yet" when she heads to the kitchen and thinks I'll feed her.  She stops in
her tracks.  "Snugglebye" gets me cuddles on the couch.  "Drink-a-water"
means I just cleaned her kitty fountain so it's a good time to get a fresh
sip!  She also understands "Sleepybye with mama" and runs to sleep with me
and cuddle so we are both warm.

I understand the following:  Meow-ma! (followed by a tap on the nose).
Meow-ma! (double tap on the nose)  I roll over, close my eyes.  Get a tap on
the neck or shoulder MEOW-MA!  Alright already, time to feed you!  LOL

Persia fell asleep on me while I was reading last night and she started
kicking and hissing in her sleep.  I let her do that for a minute and then
gently stroked her until she calmed down.  No idea what she was attacking in
her sleep but it must have been a big bad monster to upset her so.

That's so sweet! And very smart. No wonder you're so crazy about her.

LOL, that kind of sounds Chinese. Has she been watching an Asian tv
station?  :)

She's probably part Siamese, does that count?  She has a raspy little voice.
She looks like a Russian Blue but she's got the voice of a Siamese.  And the
colour of a Blue or a Korat, except she's a fat cat! :)  She's very vocal.
She talks to me all the time.  And she understands when I tell her things.
She is, indeed, very smart.

If it were Chinese, the "ma" would make it a question.  I don't
think Persia intends it as a question at all.

So true!  It's a *statement*.  Mom, get up!  Wake up!  Feed me!  Pet me!
Play with me!

Of course the minute I get up to do her bidding she decides it is time for a
nap.  Cats... gotta love 'em ;)
