Bandit, at sixteen, is meaner than ever if not as agile.  She comes into my
office, but can't quite manage a leap onto my lap.  If I reach down to lift
her up she growls, hisses and tries to bite my hand before she settles down
in my lap to start purring.

However, if I don't reach down and get her quickly enough, she marches
around the room with a loud MMMMMMMMRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW -
HISS/SPIT!

That's funny. :) My Boo is also very expressive. She wants to be right in
the kitchen
when I am cooking, and then my husband wants to know why there is *stuff* in
her
fur! So I gently shoo her and she digs in but eventually goes off, pausing
at the
doorway to throw me a HISSSSSSSSS over her shoulder. :) She also growls
menacingly if she is comfortable on you and you move. She also hisses and
slaps you with no claws if she is laying on or by you and you touch her tail
by mistake.

Yep. She's like me--you may not like what she has to say
but you never have to wonder where you stand. : D

When Hugo Katt started to have trouble at 16 to leap up on chairs, bed etc.
I placed some footstools and steps for him to use where it was needed.
Seemed to be much appreciated.

I have a step up at the foot of my bed for her to use.  There really isn't
any other place she wants to get to besides my lap - the pile of pillows is
her soft throne!  ;>

Bandit does seem to want some kind of accomodation.  She wants a
carpet or sisal ramp built from the floor to the chair, in accordance
with ADA Accessibility Guidelines. :)

You jest, but my ex built an "accessibility ramp" for our cat Tika (RB)
when she became too arthritic to jump into the bathtub on her own. The
ramp consisted of two 4" (approx 10 cm) wide pieces of pine board,
connected by a hinge, and then lined with thin rubber to provide friction
so she could climb it without slipping. We just put it over the side of
the tub like an upside-down V. Tika liked to drink from the drippy faucet,
and often would emerge with "wet head".

My son-in-law built our cat motel with an accessibility ramp.  Here is a
picture of Bandit on it...

Boy, nice job on the kitty motel with ramp.  They don't often build
them for senior kitties.

My daughter and son-in-law custom made it for me especially for my elder
girl.

LOL!  I love my own grumpy old girl too.  Kitty FC is *dreadfully* grumpy
most of the time but now and again she will creep up on my chest if I am
relaxing on my armchair and start kneading, headbutting my face,  purring up
a storm and want to stay there for hours having a lovefest.
