"OOOOH EEEH..." AAAAUUUUGGGHHH! I keep finding myself trying to remember the lyrics of the song from the Chipmunk country Christmas song that came out a couple years ago. I think it was with Alan Jackson, and I have the CD somewhere, but know that if I dig out the CD to check the actual lyrics it will be worse and the song will be stuck on repeat in my mind for days.

Apparently he's releasing a new album sometime soon. Don't know if the track will be familiar to those outside the UK but for those who are familiar with the band Pulp (very popular in the early Nineties; intelligent, wry lyrics) he's done a cover version of "Common People". It's ... erm .... *different*

Anybody ever heard his cover of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". A travesty, I tell you.

It's ... erm .... *different* Thanks for the warning. DH somehow latched on to Shatner's attempt at "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" [not a favorite of mine to begin with]. I joke with people at church that my cat is a better singer than I am. In Shatner's case, that's not a joke.

Believe me, with words and music that corny, you don't _want_ to remember them afterwards, lest you end up having them go through your head all day.

Glad to oblige: "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" In the Middle of the Earth, in the land of Shire lives a brave little Hobbit whom we all admire. With his long wooden pipe, and fuzzy wooly toes, he lives in a Hobbit Hole and everybody knows him:
Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - He's only 3 feet tall... Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - The bravest little hobbit of them all...
Now, Hobbits are peace-lovin' folks, you know, they're never in a hurry and they take things slow. They don't like to wander away from home, they just like to eat and be left alone - but one day Bilbo was asked to go on a big adventure to the caves below to help some dwarves get back their gold that was stolen by a dragon in the days of o-old.
Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - He's only 3 feet tall... Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - The bravest little hobbit of them all...
Well, he fought with the goblins! He battled a troll! He riddled with Gollum! A magic Ring he stole! He was chased by Wolves, lost in the forest, escaped in a barrel from the Elf King's ha-alls!
Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - He's only 3 feet tall... Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - The bravest little hobbit of them all
Now he's back in his home in the land of Shire - that brave little Hobbit whom we all admire - just sittin' on a treasure of silver and gold, a-puffin' on his pipe in his Hobbit Ho-ole -
Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - He's only 3 feet tall... Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - The bravest little hobbit of them all! Bilbo - Bilbo Baggins - The bravest little hobbit of them all!

So I'd prefix the word "It's" at the beginning of the line so it would scan: "It's Upside-Downy Head, it's Upside-Downy Head..." etc.

The next line goes "my cat had pups today" I can't say I've ever heard that lyric, but it sure sounds like it. This is the kind of song that probably gets all sorts of new lyrics made up on the spot... Hmm...
It's Upside-Downy Head! My cat had pups instead!
