No, not one of mine!
My son Sean's girlfriend, Amanda, is a lovely girl, and she's got a
beautiful longhaired kitten named Lana. This afternoon Lana was acting as
if she was uncomfortable, and she won't let Amanda touch her tummy. I
went over to Amanda's to take a look and it appears that Lana is pretty
uncomfortable.
I gave Sean and Amanda the folding cat carrier out of my truck, helped
them get Lana out from behind the Christmas tree and into the carrier, and
gave them directions to the emergency vet clinic. I also told them that if
the vet bill is too large for them to handle I'll help them with it.
Lana is a very sweet little girlcat, even when she doesn't feel well.
Purrs for Lana's problem to be something simple that can be treated
quickly would be appreciated.

I'm glad they have headed for the emergency vet clinic. Since you said Lana
was behind the Christmas tree, one possibility that immediately comes to
mind is that she might have eaten something from the tree. Cats will eat
tinsel, ribbon, foil icicles, and all sorts of other "delights" that are
sometimes used at Christmas but which can cause problems for our kitties. I
thought I was extra-careful of this, and yet I found Holly snipping ribbon
right off the packages. I knew she would immediately tackle loose ribbon,
but it hadn't occurred to me that she would actually cut through ribbon that
was on a package. I had to cut off all the ribbon "tails" from the packages
to protect her.

All revved up and winging their way to her sweet little tummy. Please keep
us updated on her recovery from whatever it is, and thanks for being willing
to help cover the cost.

Purrs for Lana, and for Amanda and the rest of the family, too. It's always
worrisome when a loved one is ill.

I too had been concerned that Lana might have eaten from the Christmas
tree, but ti turns out to not have been anything so serious. Lana kitten
has an injury on her tummy that had become infected and formed an abcess.
The vet cleaned the wound and gave her some antibiotics, and Sean and
Amanda have to clean the wound again a couple times a day and give her
liquid antibiotics.
Lana is going to be fine, and I'm quite pleased that Sean and Lana
recognized before talking to me that they needed to do something quickly
to help out a kitty feeling sickly.
Thanks so much for your purrs. As usual they worked very quickly!

I saw this header before reading about Lana's problem, so was relieved. But
we'll still send purrs that she feels better soon.

thanks for the update = I just read and respnded to the first post.
The girls will change their purring for the abcess to quickly heal.
Sammy sends spoecial purrs that Lana won't have to wear one of those
torture devices known as an elizabethan collar - she absoultely hated
having one on when she was spayed and remembered it enough so that she
hid when I brought one home in case Spotty bothered her incision.
)Luckily Spot ignored her incision/tattoo and I never had to put it
on.)
