Well it's been an "interesting" (as in the Chinese curse sense) Xmas for
me. I got rushed to the ER on Xmas eve at 9pm with stomach cramps as was
there until 5am Christmas morning having MRI's and tests as they thought
it was appendicitis. It wasn't fortunately, but I was rough all the
same. :o(

I got sent home for Xmas day, and spent the whole day in bed with Robbie
being nurse maid. He thought it was the best thing ever to have a whole
day with a human in bed, so at least he got a good xmas!

I spoke to my friends who are looking after Lily while I'm away. Their
words were "you didn't tell us that she was Tigger on Acid!" Apparently
she's trashed the tree twice, they found her on the table trying to
stick her head in the turkey, she's stolen the cheese, got stoned on
catnip, and everyone is having a wonderful time, with Lily as the center
of attention!

Robbie has been all over me like a bad rash for the last few days -  can
only hope that HRFL forgives me for making him spend a week in the
cattery!

Bummer!  What a miserable way to start Christmas!

I hope you're feeling much better now.

You poor thing!  What a crappy way to spend Xmas.  Glad it wasn't too
serious, and you got to go home.

Well, that sucks! Glad you're feeling better and that the pets had some fun.

Glad you're OK! But I'm sorry your Christmas started off so poorly!

Many years ago (back in 1973), I had severe stomach cramps that wouldn't
go away. I was doubled over, couldn't get out of bed, etc. Finally, at
about 1 AM, my sister drove me to the ER, and my dad (who was visiting
his girlfriend) showed up, with the gf. We all waited in the waiting area
for me to be seen, while dad lovingly stroked my hair. Everyone believed
it was appendicities. Actually, I didn't think it was, but I was so
miserable that I just wanted someone to do something to make it stop
hurting.

Well, it wasn't appendicitis, or anything serious. Embarrassingly for me,
it turned out to be a colossal case of constipation. After the doctor
who saw me made that diagnosis, I was seen by a sadistic nurse who started
off with something like, "Sit up and stop whining. There are a lot of
sick people in this hospital, and you're not one of them." At one point,
the pain was so intense that I almost fainted, and the bitch came at me
with smelling salts. Then she proceeded to give me a *cold* enema. *COLD*!
This did nothing whatsoever for the problem, except make my cramps even
worse. I'm sure she knew that this is exactly what would happen. Then the
hospital sent me home.

Even my dad was mad at me. He thought the whole thing was a bid for
attention on my part, or, at best, making a big thing out of nothing.
But if anyone's ever had a problem like this, then you know how painful
it can be. Needless to say, I barely slept that night, and wasn't any
better in the morning. I had to go back to the hospital, where someone
gave me another enema, at the proper temperature, and this caused
the desired result.

Moral: eat your fiber!!

Joyce! That's a horrible story! Pain is pain, no matter what the source
is, and I hope that nurse ended up with a collossal case of
constipation herself one day. Same thing happened to my daughter when
she was about 15. It is *terribly* painful.

So did they find out what the cramps were?  I hope it wasn't anything
serious.  Here's hoping your New Years will turn out better.

Would you send me your e-mail address so we can get back in touch?

It was an ovarian cyst that was 5cm in diameter (apparently quite
large). I have to see my gynacologist when I get back to the UK. Deep
joy.

Of course, the good news is that you get to spend Christmas with Robbie :)

Ugh, that sounds nasty Helen.  I'm glad you got better but sorry you had
a less than desirable Xmas.  Hope things improve for the New Year!
I was worried I'd be spending Xmas in bed sick too.  On the 23rd, I
suddenly got extremely ill at 2:30 in the afternoon.  But by 8:30 I felt
fine again.  Too weird.  I feel I lucked out compared to you though.

Ouch, Helen! What an inauspicious event for Christmas Eve.  =o( I hope
all will be well with the Ovarian Cyst, though.  And I'm thankful you
had a nurse cat in attendance in the form of Robbie.  Going through all
that with NO cats in attendance would REALLY be the pits. HRFL will
just have to forgive you.

It sounds as if Lily hasn't skipped a beat in your absence, though.
=o)

I spent Christmas with my Sister's Cocker Spaniel, Cosmo.  He's a very
sweet, friendly dog who LOVED all the attention he was showered with.
(I think my sister was there, too, as I'm pretty sure Cosmo can't
drive.) =o)  But now the cats, left pretty much on their own for two
days while I spent time with a d-thing, are remarkably unhappy.  <G>
