Mom's responding well to her chemo, the dogs and cats are doing well, and everybody who wants to be employed is employed. Hope thangs are going well for you. We've missed you!

pamn8tr - 26 Dec 2005 19:09 GMT That's good news, Dan. I've missed all of you terribly. Hard to believe it's been so long. I know I have a lot to catch up on, so forgive me if act like a newbie for a while.

I lost both my old friends, Frank and Nikki, this year. I miss them a lot and feel a bit lost without them, but I do have two new furry friends, Miranda and Caliban.

pamn8tr - 27 Dec 2005 00:06 GMT I knew about Nikki, but not about Frank. Marina I am so sorry. Purrs and prayers to you for the loss of your wonderful furry friends.
I saw pics of your two new furbabies and they are beautiful.
Marina - 27 Dec 2005 09:07 GMT > I knew about Nikki, but not about Frank. Marina I am so sorry. Purrs > and prayers to you for the loss of your wonderful furry friends. Frank had to be released nearly three weeks ago, on the 8th. I don't think I've quite grasped that he's gone yet. I saw in another post that Shinobu is still with you. What a tough old girl! Frank had just turned 18 in November.
> I saw pics of your two new furbabies and they are beautiful. Thank you. They bring me lots of joy, interspersed with aggavation at their hoolikitten antics.

pamn8tr - 29 Dec 2005 02:31 GMT Poor Frank. Again I am so sorry. He was one cool cat--mustache and all. You know, every year I think Shinobu won't make it and she hangs in there for another year. She's been getting those shots for 4 years now and I'm sure that's what's keeping her alive. I feed her extra wet food to keep the weight on her (Dorrie too) and she perks up and does great again. Sometimes I think she will outlive me.
I don't know if I could do a hoolikitten right now. You have my admiration.

How is everyone? pamn8tr - 27 Dec 2005 00:31 GMT Hi polonca, it's wonderful to see that you're here. I've missed you all more than you will know. Shinobu is still hanging in there, she will be 20 in March, Dorrie will be 17, Lucy turned 8 in October, Spooky is 4 now (believe it or not) and Paint Job (formerly the Andelion) is about 3 I think. I have two d*gs now. Diamond and Goblin. They are each about a year old.
Irulan - 27 Dec 2005 00:08 GMT hey there, Hazel AZ! Glad to see you back. Please don't stay away so long again. Lily & her mama Jazz, RB

I tell everyone I have this great friend who's actually been to Ankor Watt (sp?). Maybe we can all try to get on yahoo chat one day and try to catch up. I've missed out on a lot it seems.

Hi Pam, Yahoo chat won't work unfortunately because I never installed it when I got my new computer. I don't want to install it either because it always gave me so many problems with my computer. But feel free to email me any time :-) Just take the SPAM out. Yes, you have missed out on a bit. The big news is that Dennis and I got our Australian permanent resident visas and while we were there in November getting the visa initialized, we ended up buying our dream lot in Margaret River. We are extremely excited and will be moving there in April. We have been in Thailand for almost 5 years now and it is time to move on. Please keep me posted on what's new in your life, I want to know everything that's been happening lately!

pamn8tr - 29 Dec 2005 02:55 GMT Congratulations on becoming permanent residents in Australia! I know you've wanted that for a long time. Well tell me about the lot? What kind of house do you plan to build. Details, details, I want to hear it all!
Geeze, has it been 5 years? How long have we been ON this group anyway? 'Course I feel like I've known you all forever, so I guess time doesn't matter.
Give me about a week or so and I'll have time to update you. I'm still putting my kitchen back together...
badwilson - 29 Dec 2005 03:34 GMT Thank you! Yes, getting the visa was a dream come true. It happened on August 30, about a year after we applied. We were sooooo excited but Dennis was away working so we had to wait until he came home to celebrate. The lot is 3.8 acres, faces west, has some trees near the top and the rest is grassy field. It slopes gently down from the road and has a nice view of grassy hills. We absolutely love it! It was very difficult to find a lot of that size, they are mostly going to little 1/2 acre or smaller lots. But we really wanted some space. We are thinking of building a rammed earth or rammed limestone house on it. It's a building method that they use fairly commonly down there. The gravel is mixed with 8% concrete and gets pressure packed into a mold. Turns out like solid concrete. Keeps it cool inside in the summer and warm in the winter. With a metal roof on it, it will be very fire proof. However, we won't be able to build the house for about 2 years because we spent too much money on the lot. When we get there, I'm going to start working in some of the wineries and hopefully the money that I make will make up for the fact that everything is so much more expensive in Australia than in Thailand. Dennis has been touring 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off in Burma. He's stuck in a camp with no drinking and nobody else to talk to except his elderly, grumpy engineer. But we like the fact that he only has to be gone for 4 weeks at a time instead of 6 weeks. Yeah, I can't believe it, but March 15 will be our 5th anniversary of being in Thailand. And I think I was on this NG for a bit over a year before we came here! Time flies when you're having fun :-) Can't wait for your update, Pam, and good luck with the kitchen project. Hugs and purrs,

Whats been happening around here? Cary is now a little boy at full tantrum age. Lucky he's so darn cute and has a great sense of humour in between his tantrums. (More pics will be uploaded shortly)
An almost black girl kitty joined us last Christmas, IBKFergus (IBK standing for "Itty Bitty Kitty"). I found her at work under a building, and nobody else wanted a 6 week old kitten at Christmas so she came home to be with us. Shmogg still hates her, but has forgiven me.
Cary and IBKFergus bonded instantly (both were on all fours at the time) and whilst none of the big hoomins are allowed to even pet her, Cary can maul her any way he likes and she seems to not only tolerate it but actually enjoy it. Those two are going to take over the world some day.
Shmogg is noticably old now when compared to a hoolikitten, but still full of piss and vinegar as ever. Fluffy still hasn't found another brain cell, but has worked out toddlers shed food like cats shed fur and trails around after Cary 'picking up' after him.
Um, I also became an aunt 4 months after Cary was born, my sister having a girl, Sarah. She's going to be *really* tall - she's already taller than Cary, and Cary is *big* for his age (although she'll be stick thin, and Cary will be built like a brick dunny)
My parents are still well, Mum now finally enjoying a pain free replacement hip. She worried herself into a total tiz, but the operation went perfectly and the recovery as good as one is ever going to get. She's now looking forward to getting the other hip done.
So thats my news... I bet you've got a tale or two to tell yourself!

I knew you'd be a great Mum. Didn't I say so? Bet you are some cool parents.
Congrats on IBKFergus. I'm so glad that Cary is continuing in the great tradition of cat lovers everywhere and belongs to one of his own. Fluffy will never find another brain cell, I'm sure even she knows to stop looking, but I'm sure she's still full of love and drool.
Yeah, lots to tell. Some good, some not, but it'll keep 'till later.

pamn8tr - 29 Dec 2005 02:28 GMT How's my Missy doing? I still have her picture. I've been planning to give you and Ramona a call just to say hello. Tell her I'm a J. D. Robb fanatic and it's all her fault. I hear that Patrick has been keeping himself busy, tell him I say hello.

I can't come downstairs to the computer without her showing up for skritches, shoulder kneading, and otherwise carrying out her human's supervision.
I'll let Ramona know about JD Robb (whoever that is). And Patrick's spending a week with us now - goes back to Atlanta 1/3.
We've been quite remiss in calling you, too. In any case, hope your holidays have been good.

Will fill you in on all the gory details then. How is everyone? Welcome back Pam!! We're doing ok. We lost Berfert last Christmas, but have been adopted by Sonya and her son Qui Gun Kit. Mandy is a senior in high school and I'm back in college trying to get that teaching degree. Rob is doing ok, he had another MRI done on the 19th, we don't know the results yet, but figure that no news is good news. Mike is going to the same college that I am, (it's only a community college, so no reason to get excited, yet) and enjoying himself. I'm hoping that he gets over his shyness and asks this girl that he likes out.
Please don't leave again. We love and miss you.

pamn8tr - 29 Dec 2005 02:37 GMT Well I love and miss you guys too. So there.
Hey I'm so proud of you! It may take time, but you'll make your goal eventually. I'm so glad you are doing well.
I'm so sorry about Berfert. The RB got itself one heck of a practical joker now. I can't believe all the wonderful furbabies that went to the RB since I've been gone.
alkdaey--um, Lucy says hi. She's glad we're back on line too.

pamn8tr - 29 Dec 2005 02:39 GMT Well the cats have been fine, fat and furry. They formed a committee to pass legislation to outlaw d*gs on the property. I think there is a nasty plot against the two canines in the back yard. Neither of these d*g creatures is very bright so the carnage may be great. We shall see.

pamn8tr - 29 Dec 2005 02:42 GMT Spooky is now heartbroken and desolate over the passing of his much admired Uncle Hugo. He takes comfort in the fact that Hugo lived the kind of life that most cats dream of.
Hugs to you Elisabet, I'm glad to see you are still here.

Rich and I are still doing much the same jobs, living in the same house in Whitstable. As for the cats: Jasper's still doing well over a year after his diabetes diagnosis, and still Lord Of All He Surveys. Carrie's much the same; still a cuddlesponge.
And onto the new additions: Fenchurch came to us in May, having been found living in our garage. She's a tough kitty, and has a vocabulary and claws to match. By contrast, Sir Bertie is the perfect gentleman, having wormed his way into our hearts when we picked the others up from the boarding cattery in November.

pamn8tr - 29 Dec 2005 02:46 GMT Fenchurch is such a great name for a cat. However it sounds like it should belong to a delicate lady cat--at least to me. You think she might mellow out some day? Congratulations on your new furry family and I'm so glad that all is well in Whitstable.
Much love
