We just got back from Mountain Grove. Baby Eyes and me, that is. When
Abelard didn't show up I grabbed Baby Eyes off my bed and took her along so
as not to waste the appointment. Abelard still hasn't shown up, so I'll have
to take him in Monday, but even TED did not see him, from what I told her,
using Baby Eyes as a model, the damage is in the right spot for a splint to
work well (closer to his body), and his not wanting me to touch it means the
nerve is probably intact.
As to Baby Eyes, she got chest x-rays which confirmed my suspicions.
Thankfully her asthma is not too severe and she will not need medication in
the form of mist, just some pills - prednisone and theophylline. And the
pills are small, which is a very good thing.
She rode well for me in the car, and was soooo sweet to TED's assistant!
Kept rubbing her little face over the girl's chin..... And in the waiting
room was a gigantic dog, most likely a St. Bernard, who kept coming over to
us and sniffing Baby Eyes' bottom, and she seemed so comforted by that.
I felt so blessed and special when I learned that not only was the entire
bill for today covered, there is a balance sufficient to take care of
whatever Abelard may need. 'Thanks' seems like far too mild of a word to
convey my feeling to the Angels in this group who called TED's office with
contributions.

Now please forward our "get your furry butt home" purrs out the door to
Abelard.

Please let us know as soon as you can how Abelard is doing - I'm very
worried about him being out and injured.

I sure will. I'm worried, too, but not as much as I'd be if he had a broken
leg. This morning I had to go in and out several times and although he had
slipped out he was staying close. Then Beatrice chased him and jumped on
him, and he hissed at her, and then he was gone. I walked around calling him
for over an hour with no luck. But I trust he will come in later tonight,
and will post again when he does show up.

I'm so glad to hear Abelard's injury does not seem so terrible to TED.
We will be purring and sending lots of best wishes for Abelard to be
home at the time for his appointment on Monday and that everything will
go really well. Lots of purrs for Baby Eyes' asthma too,
Polonca and Soncek
