Enfilade - 24 Sep 2004 01:35 GMT We have four boxes, but our cats always use different boxes so unless we actually catch one in the act of doing it, we never know who's made what "treasure."
It worries me sometimes since after her spay and hernia surguries, Nocturne held it for /three days/. (both #2 AND #1) She had to be induced to pee and have two enemas and painkillers given before she would go again. If someone was not going we would have trouble telling now that there are four cats.

Singh - 24 Sep 2004 04:27 GMT Before we got Brandy we were fostering an immense cat named Brian. He weighed about 25 pounds before Stosh enlisted him in boot camp and got him into daily wrestling matches. Brian even had a Holstein cow pattern, which I found a riot.
Brian's dumps were prodigious. They were monumental, nearly Olympian in size. Cleaning the box was an adventure. I had no idea that a cat's behind could drop objects of this size! they were over an inch wide and several inches long. I tell you, if the first President Bush had him during Desert Storm we'd have, ahem, flushed Saddam out the first time; he'd never have hidden out with the bouquet of the Texas-sized offerings!
Brian was returned to his owner and all are happy, if smelly, in the UK.
Blessed be, Baha

But not so much now that her eating has slowed down. I was always tempted to take the biggest one I could find to TED, when it was time for her annual sample. But I'm sure he'd tell me she had some sort of disease if I did.

It's the only thing she would eat when we brought her home. But she gets lots of quality meat, so she's not suffering. We've tried to switch her to Hills/Eukanuba a few times, but she won't touch it. She's stolen the light out of Cali's bowl a few times, but won't eat it in her own bowl. The last thing she needs is light in any event. Despite the fact that she's an eating machine, she maintains a good weight. This will likely change as she matures.
Christina Websell - 24 Sep 2004 12:12 GMT ROFL! I never get to see my cat's offerings, they go outside. Can't say I'm sorry!

My DH once forgot to unlock the cat flap after working in the garage with the garage door open (we have an attached garage and we put the cat flap in the door leading from the house to the garage so we could keep the litter boxes out there - we lock the flap when the garage doors are open to the outside). It stayed locked for over 24 hours before I noticed it. I went all over the house *sure* I was going to find hidden deposits, but not one of the 3 girls (this was before Sammy), had gone anywhere else. I will say there was a run to the garage and several dirty looks when the flap was finally unlocked!!

Back when Rocky was in for his snip surgery he was still a stray (so I thought, seems he already considered himself part of the family). Anyway, since he was strictly an outdoor guy who frequently didn't show up for a couple days, I took him down to the clinic the day before the surgery and left him for an extra day to make sure he had recovered. So he ended up sprending parts of three days and two nights, and never used the litter box, never ate, and only drank a tiny amount. The staff were a little worried about releasing him, but felt it could just be stress from being locked inside in a strange place. So, I brought him home and turned him lose inside the apartment, and he made a beeline to the water and took a long drink. He next wanted out - I wasn't sure about that since I wanted to make sure he was recovered enough to eat, but he was so insistent I let him out. Made a run over to the pecan tree in the corner of the yard, his favorite toilet area, and I could almost hear his sign of relief from the patio. I really didn't expect him to hang around, after previous TED visits it was several days before I saw him again. But he came walking back and came right inside the open door, went to the food and licked the bowl clean. I even gave him another can of Fancy Feast, which he ate right down. Like I said earlier, I didn't consider him family at the time, and had even lined up a new home where he was going to become a barn cat. But, he had other ideas, and it wasn't long before I was telling his new owner that he was already home. He started staying inside nights, but it was still a long time before he used the litterbox, still preferring to go out.

The TED was worried when Smokey went for her Spay and would not eat afterwards. Little do they know, we should have called her Hoover.

Seanette Blaylock - 25 Sep 2004 19:30 GMT Steve Touchstone <stouchst@junksirinet.net> had some very interesting things to say about Re: buried treasure:

The last couple of times we've moved, Felix refused to eat for a couple of days. He scared me pretty badly last time, this time I just figured he'd eat when he was ready (and I was right).
