Various musings and thoughts

As you might expect, this time of year is hard. I resisted putting
up anything Christmas-y around the house until a week ago. I was
going to just skip it again. Good excuse, the "kittens" would just
destroy it. Well, I put up a nativity and while they watched me
place every character, they haven't seemed to have any interest
because the sheppards (sp?) and wise men and even the baby Jesus
are all still where I set them up. I was more worried about a
garland with lights on the stair railing. Both Scarlett and Rhett
are still in the chewing stage, but after watching them for the
weekend after I hung it, they have left it alone. That could get
ugly if they wanted to chew that.

Last night's catastrophy: I put the evil humidifier on an end
table while vaccuming yesterday, and it didn't look half bad up
there rather than on the floor, so I left it there. Well, last
night, Rhett decided to claim his end table spot back, and knocked
the humifier to the floor. Did I ever tell you how strong this cat
is? I filled the water thingie before I went to bed, and it holds
about 3 gallons so it's heavy. Luckily, the humidifier still
works, and the only water spilled was in the tray under the wick.
It could have been ugly if the water holder-thingie broke or
cracked.

Anyway, just taking my mind off work since the "news" came out
Friday and everyone had time to think over the weekend, and today
was a day of speculation and worry. Worse - one of our groups had
an award celebration today and while I did get a plaque, many were
given checks for something I was a part of, and I was left out
because I'm not on the "front end" of things, but the "back end"
(server side).  It seems everyone awarded were in direct contact
with the client. What, do they think figuring out how to make that
app integrate with AD happened on its own? Do they think figuring
out how to back up the data so that a restore could be done
quickly was easy? Do they think figuring out how to replicate the
whole damn thing for business continuity policies happened by
magic?  I just didn't get on the "list" for that damn CMS project
and I'm pissed.

Holy cow - Rhett is a very strong cat indeed.  We use those things all
winter in the desert dry winter of Calgary and they are *heavy*!

I love the next picture too of Rhett sleeping with curled up paws.
Awwwwwww....

That is truly dumb and I can't believe that they were so ignorant to leave
you out.  That is blisteringly insensitive.  I'm sorry that happened.

I still can't believe Rhett turned out so big! He was so little when
you go him.
I'm sorry you're feeling unappreciated at your job. On a positive note,
my DH's company was bought out last year. We were nervous about that
too, and it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened at his
job. Lots better benefits than they had before. So those things aren't
always negative.
More musings: I put my Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving. The cats
ignored it. I'm dreadfully tired of it now and the other assorted Xmas
decorations too. Can't wait to de-nude the thing and toss it in the
pond. Next year I won't put it up so early.

Yup, it sucks. Been there, done that. Which is one of the reasons I'm
looking for a new job. :(

Wow, that is one big honkin' humidifier!

I'm sorry you got passed over for the monetary reward - been there, done
that, and it really sucks!

I guess I probably missed something, but it sounds like you're
concerned about layoffs?

If you can talk to your lead at all, I would talk to him/her about the
concern that your very important contributions are being overlooked.
You could couch it like, "I noticed that I wsn't presented with a
bonus for my work on the Berenstein project, and I just want to talk
to you about whether there's anything I could be doing differently."
