I've been hesitant to write about Speckles - I feel much like the boy
who cried "Wolf!!"  You'll tire of my purr-pleas if *this* keeps up.

Speck was very ill last week; a visit to the vet Wednesday seemed to
make it worse.  I didn't expect her to last through the weekend.
Thursday night she was so down I thought that if she were still
breathing Friday morning, I'd take her to the vet and let her go.
Friday morning, she was still alive - boy, was she alive!!  She dashed
to the litter box, jumped up on furniture, *ran* to another room!  She
ate breakfast!!  She ate and drank throughout the day - *without*
leaving a trail of vomit!!  She *meowed*, a sound I hadn't heard for
days!  She purred!  I could only stare in astonishment and think "What
the *hell*???"  How does a half-dead kitty *do* that in a matter of
hours?  She was fine throughout the weekend and is OK this morning.

It *had* to be the RPCA purrs.  No other logical explanation.

Speck told me quite forcefully that she isn't ready to go yet.  She
will do it on her own terms.  *She'll* let me know the where, when,
and how.  Not just yet.  She made that crystal clear.

Of course, I'm aware that this reprieve won't be permanent.  I'm not
kidding myself and don't harbor the illusion that she has a lot of
time left.  Not a 16-year-old kitty with hyperthyroidism, damaged
liver, kidney problems, furball-prone queasy stomach, and a heart
murmur.  But it's nice to feel the current euphoria!!!!

Thanks again for all the purrs and caring.

This is SO EXCELLENT! We're going to keep up the purrs. Speckles has been
on mind a lot in recent days.

No we won't. I know exaclty what you are going through. It was the same
rollercoaster here all autumn. So nice to read about how Speckles
rallied. I hope, and we are purring, that she continues this way for a
long, long time yet.

Awww, Jeanne that is just great!  You go, Speckles!  Your batteries
still have a lot of charge in them, so run, play, eat, and enjoy!

Please don't ever be hesitant to write about Speckles, or to ask for purrs.
News about Speckles is very welcome, and purrs are a infinitely
self-renewing resource.

I'm so glad Speckles is feeling better - purrs are continuing for her.

I hope you have much more time together, and the gang are sending
more purrs. Please let us know anything when you need to, and when
you know. I know I care so much about the kitties here and the
slaves that take care of them.

Well hey!  If it's going to have that kind of result, cry
"wolf!" all you want.  Tell Speckles she's got more of the same
coming, so she should be fine for a long while yet.

My two purrers are looking mildly self-congratulatory.  They'll
probably try to persuade me that the best way to celebrate a
successful purr project is to move supper up a half hour.
