This weekend was incredibly hectic, so I got John to make me some
toast for breakfast this morning and I ate it while I was making some
christmas cards for church... he put roast pork on it and I ate one
slice and the other was sitting on my plate next to me, when Silver
decided I must have finished with it... she jumped up onto the table,
grabbed a slice off the piece of toast, jumped down and ran away with
it.Before I could do more than say 'NO!' She'd scarfed that thing
down. She knew she was in the wrong and I was going to take it off
her if I got there before she was done.
Scouty watched in horror (or was it admiration) and then I had to give
her some pork too just to be fair... I hope this isn't going to be the
start of a habit of theivery - she usually just sits there and begs,
and I haven't been giving her any person food because she's too fluffy
already!

I've seen so many stories of the kitties stealing food from a plate,
or even out of a mouth. I've never had this happen! I think I'd just
giggle too much if I ever do. :)

I laughed too... inbetween getting cross with her and trying to
intercept her (too late) She's diabolical - she's definitely the
brains of the pair...

AAaaaaah!!! The old Stinky tactic! We used to just NOT BELIEVE what
he would do, but he was so funny (and so sweet) that he always got
away with it. ;)

Caliban steals Miranda's food just like this - snags a piece, then
scampers off and inhales it under the table or a chair. Miranda is more
ingenious, though. I'll never forget the time I was eating ice cream out
of a bowl. As I was bringing the spoon to my mouth, Mir jumped up on my
shoulder and shoved her head in front of my face and opened her mouth to
receive the spoonful of ice cream. I laughed so hard she fell off.

Oh my! I'm glad Silver's not here to see that post or she'd be doing
it next... whenever we have icecream or pudding or yoghurt she hovers
to receive her due licks of the bowl/container, and she's very annoyed
if it's chocolate because then I won't let her have any!

Stinky is a chocolate fiend-- it is probably his no.1 draw. ;) And it
drives me to distraction, trying to keep him from eating any. The
smell has an almost hypnotic effect on him. He'll walk through walls
to get to it.

I've give up with Lily - although I've tried. She is so persistent it's
not truee. This morning, for example - she was d*mn well going to drink
my cereal milk - even if it meant scrabbling up my chair, over my back
and stealing it off the spoon as I I was putting cereal in my mouth!
Precocious doesn't even cover it!

LOL! I had exactly the same thing happen to me with a hamburger once. I
got up for no more than 30 seconds to grab a napkin and half the burger was
gone from the bun! What's really weird is this was not your typical
hamburger. I combined ground beef mince with finely minced mushrooms, water
chestnuts, soy sauce and other assorted oddities :)

It must have smelt soooo good that it was irresistable to Persia... or
else she has your refined palate :)

Speedy Joe (RB) holds the all time record. Dave was about to have lunch
and there was a large pork pie in the fridge so large in fact that even
Dave only wanted half of it (It weighed about a pound) as he was taking
it out of the fridge the doorbell went so he went to see who it was....
In the time he ran to the front door (This is a small flat by the way)
opened it, looked round concluded it was kids and came back to the
kitchen, Speedy Joe wolfed the lot!!!!
So Dave was left staring at the empty plate and the cat half unsure
that a cat could eat that much that fast. Speedy Joe might have gotten
away with it if he hadn't burped and then thrown the whole lot up over
the worktop

Speedy Joe must have been speedy indeed to run out and push the
doorbell and make it back in time to liberate the pork pie.

My former boss once had the phone ring just as he was about to eat a
submarine sandwich. He set it down on his coffee table and went to
answer the phone. When he came back, the sandwich was missing and his
cocker-spaniel mix, Dixie, was licking her mouth. When he asked her,
"Dixie, did you eat my sandwich?", she opened her mouth and gave a big
belch, obviously meaning "Yes". That was a lot of food for a small
dog.

Smokey did that to me once, ages ago, when I had a roast beef sandwich from
Arby's. I set it down on the wrapper after taking a bit, and went to get my
drink (left in the car - duh), and came back to find Smokey had flipped the
bun open, and had scarfed down approximately 1/3 of the meat!!! I couldn't
do anything but laugh, while I finished the remainder of my sandwich.

Hee! Vino has never done the grab 'n run before, but he really likes
his yoghurt which I put on my cereal every day. He comes up and hooks
his paw into the rim of the bowl and pulls it towards him. I'm holding
the bowl up to my face and he pulls one way and I pull the other way. I
always let him lick out the bowl when I'm done.
