"ALL YOUR BOX ARE BELONG TO STINKY"

Kreisleriana - 18 Dec 2005 04:15 GMT What with Xmas a week away, and all the shopping (especially online) I am up to my butt in boxes and paper, at the moment. THey're downstairs, they're upstairs. I was watching TV, and half-watching Dante jump in and out of a shoe box, and rattle the paper around, when Stinky came in, and it's so funny how I knew exactly what was going to happen--and it happened just that way. Stinky saw and heard the commotion, got that HOW DARE YOU SIR!!!!! look, stalked over to Dante-in-the-box, gave a mighty hiss and commenced the head-bops until Dante took off.
Mother saw this, and said, "There are *other* boxes . . ." and I saw that even after all these years of raising children, she still didn't get it! "Mom," I said, "You still don't get it! ALL the boxes are his!!" ;)

Everyone was passing around this Flash movie that makes fun of the game:

This was in turn probably based on an earlier Quicktime movie with a similar theme:

And I'm curious what the phrase "all your base are belong to us" was *meant* to impart.

With a lot of experience in correcting bad English, I'd say it meant 'All your bases belong to us,' but I haven't played the game so don't know what the bases are. Judging from the videos, this Cats character is taking over the world.
I am so glad I have three weeks off work now. No more bad English until 9th January. :oP

It was probably "All your bases belong to us." It was meant to be an intimidating statement, telling the opponent he/she is in a hopeless situation, and the only alternative is to give up.

I love bad Japanese-to-English translations!
The villain, Cats, is supposed to be taunting the "heroes": "We've captured all your bases...."
"Someone set us up the bomb" is probably "someone's put a bomb here with us"
"you have no chance to survive make your time..." You can figure out what Cats means there...I just hope to never hear Nox utter this.

THey're [quoted text clipped - 10 lines] > get it! "Mom," I said, "You still don't get it! ALL the boxes are > his!!" ;) LOL! I miss my box kitty Nikki! The kittens like boxes alright, but they're not crazy about them like Nikki was. Whenever a box came into the house, she could hardly wait for me to empty the contents so she could get inside it and claim it for herself. Then she would defend it fiercely againt invaders (Frank).

For years to come, people will be able to see what a delightful cat, Nikki was.

Unfortunately, I have 17 gigs of pics that I've taken and there's no way I could keep them all online. I pick the best ones to put in my online albums. But when I had my recent hard drive scare, I definitely thought that at least I'd still have those few pics. Unfortunately they are all greatly downsized from the originals.

My husband has a bumper sticker on the back of his truck that says, "All your base are belong to us".
In any case, isn't it FUN trying to wrap anything at this time of year? It just isn't possible unless you do it privately, with a closed door.

Hey, they had several days of fun with them, but when they start using them to ride down the stairs, time to go. ;)

Sandy - 19 Dec 2005 00:48 GMT I had to do the same recently. Sometimes the clutter factor is greater than the cat fun factor. I had one box about the size of a large toaster oven that they crawled in and out of even though the flaps were closed (not interlocked, just folded down over the top), and once in a while there would be just 2 or 3 inches of tail sticking out!
