Thank you, everyone, for your purrs and good wishes that Billy, my
two friends' dog, be found soon. I have no news as yet.
The sad thing about this is that Billy was a stray who showed up in
their back yard. They tried to find his original owners, but nobody
claimed him. It could be that there were no original owners, but since
he was so friendly and comfortable around people, it seemed that he
must have been somebody's pet. In any case, he was sick when they
found him, and they had to get considerable veterinary care for him.
So he's now their dog!
He bonded intensely with one of my friends - a one-person dog. And she
really needed it, since she and my other friend have lost 2 dogs this
year, both of them older dogs who got sick and had to be put down. She
is totally heartbroken that Billy is missing. It's so unfair!! :( I think
he's lost and confused, and is trying to find her. But since it was his
other human who took him with her to work, and not his *special* human,
he might be trying to get back home to her.
One thing that's really worrisome is that he has a lot of food allergies,
and was on a special diet. So if he's getting fed anywhere, I'm sure
it's not anything he's supposed to be eating. When he has allergic
reactions, it results in itchiness all over his skin, and "hot spots"
(areas of his skin that get really hot) that can get very irritated and
turn into open wounds. So he really needs to get home!!
I'll keep you posted if there are any new developments.
Thanks!
Joyce

Ugh. Shamrock can totally relate to the skin allergic reactions and
has instructed me to tell you he is sending increased purrs and
instructing Bonnie, Scarlett and Rhett to purr harder.
Note from hoomin, I really hope he will be found very soon. I can't
stand the thought of any pet lost. It just breaks my heart.

Thank you! But my cats are insisting that I post and make it clear
to everyone that, while cats have human slaves, dogs most assuredly
do not. And we must never be confused about this. The furry ones here
are very concerned lest we forget the proper chain of command, and
come to the horrifying conclusion that dogs run the universe.

I am not sure the cats are entirely right because when walking a dog,
who picks up the poop?

Yes, we do, but aren't we really just obeying the laws of other humans?
Unlike cats, dogs are not civilized enough to bury it themselves, so
rather than step in it all the time, as we used to do, we made pooper
scooper laws. But those laws haven't been around that long - I remember
when dogs could just make deposits anywhere and nobody had to clean up
after them. Whereas the cat/human master/slave relationship has been
around for millenia.

Or to put it more simply, most dogs would happily walk themselves and don't
much care if their poop is picked up or by whom.

This reminds me of the chain of command according to Miranda when she
had been with me a few weeks. It was:
1st Nikki
2nd Frank
3rd Miranda
4th houseplants
...
nth the hoomin
I don't think d*gs came into the equation since she hadn't met any at
that point.

Awww, poor Miranda - just one step above the houseplants, of all things!
I guess she's now queen of the house?

Just saw this, Joyce. Sorry I'm late in posting but my two felines will
join the purr chorus for Billy's safe return. Scooter, the resident canine
sends dollops of doggie drool his way.
