Aaaw. She looks just like my little cat Missie Mouse. Mouse loves to
nurse on my arm from time to time. She has that same exact expression
and ear position as your Sammy. Cute isn't it?

Yep, she does this every time she settles down for a nap.  I was worried at
first that she would make her toe sore, but she doesn't - she only sucks her
toe for a few minutes until she drifts off to sleep, will start awake, then
suck until she falls asleep again.  Reminds me of a baby sucking her thumb.

Her method operndi is to snuggle up to me (she likes to have bare skin to
knead on), stick her left rear foot between her front legs, and then start
sucking her toe while kneading me with her front paws.

She'll wake me up several times a night doing this - even if the tiny claw
pricks from her kneading didn't wake me, the *very* loud purring and
smacking noises would do the trick!  ;>
