Miranda is really missing her Unka Frank. She's very needy, but at the
same time, I'm not allowed to touch her. She follows me around
everywhere, but when I try to lift her up or even just stroke her, she
slinks away. She comes and puts her paws up on my legs as if she wants
to be lifted, but when I turn to her, she slinks off again.
I didn't know she was so attached to Frank, but when he had been given
the sedative and went under the bed and lay down, she followed him and
lay down right next to him, pressed up against his side. She'd never
done that before. It was as if she was keeping vigil for her Unka Frank.
I feel so bad for my little girl. I hope she forgets him soon.
At least she still sleeps with me in bed, and sometimes even asks to be
let in under the covers. That's the only time she seems quite happy and
content.

She will get over it, and probably won't take too long. When DeeDee had to
leave for the Bridge due to CRF Amelia moped around for a week or two
afterwards. I had no idea that Amelia cared for DeeDee that much, but she
sure did seem to. But she did get over it after not too long.

I'm glad to hear that. Miranda let me hold her and cuddle her a bit
today. It's been a week, so maybe she is starting to come around. Wish
it was that quick for me!

When our beloved Quetzie died, Xoxo mourned for him for weeks. He would
go in the back alley and yowl very loud. :(
I'm happy to report he is a very content kitty nowadays, so there is hope.
Lots of purrs for Miranda and for you.

Aww, poor Xoxo. I'm sure Frank grieved Nikki, but he didn't do it in
such an obvious way. Maybe he never got over her death and lost his own
will to live? I'll never know.

Poor Mirmir! =o( But how sweet that she stayed close to Unka Frank to
the last. If things don't go well for Pan, at least Nina and Francesca
will still have each other.

Poor Miranda :-( Frank was so special, I think it will take you both quite a
while to recover from losing him.

That's so sweet of her. But it's just a matter of weeks rather than months I
expect.
Snowball went round the house miaowing unhappily for many weeks following
the death of Pericles. Strange, because Peri wasn't very nice to him, lots
of biffs and hisspits. Now when Snowball goes round miaowing it's 'coz
there's a large kitten attached to his neck!
Snowball learnt from Peri and treats young Claudius just as Peri treated
him. Maybe this means he cares............

Awwwww... poor Mir-mir! She is definitely puzzled and doesn't understand
why Unka Frank isn't there anymore. She'll come around I'm sure, but she
will always look for her uncle. At least she has you to snuggle with at
night. And that hoolikitten to play with during the day.
Purrs for you, Marina... I know you miss Frank more than does Miranda.

Thanks. Sometimes I see Caliban dash by out of the corner of my eye, and
think, 'my, Frank's sprightly today', and then I look and realise it's
not a black-and-white cat, it's a tabby-and-white.

It takes a while. I know that Sugar didn't seem to "miss" Grant in like
looking for him, but she did seem lost and confused. She was definitely
stressed. {{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}} to all. It does get better.

all her time to you and Cal.

Hmm, this sounds just like Licky on a good day. :)

Poor girl! It does sound like she had gotten pretty attached to Frank.
I don't have any advice because I haven't dealt with this situation,
but it sounds like many others have and they're all saying that she will
adjust and feel better soon. It must be hard enough for you missing him,
without also knowing that your little girl also needs comforting.
Is Caliban any help? Maybe they will become close now that's it's just
the two of them.
Purrs,
Joyce

Aww, scritches to Licky, if he'll have them. Miranda has usually been
quite an affectionate cat, so this change gets my attention. But last
night, just after I wrote the OP, I saw her kneading the blankie on the
bed, just as she used to. Her way of kneading is funny. Frank and every
other cat I've known used to stand in one place and knead, but Miranda
seems to be trying to cover as large a portion of the blankie with her
paws as she can. She stretches to each side and then moves over a bit to
get to the next patch of untouched blankie. All the while purring her
quiet little purr.

She's been pretty close with Caliban ever since about a week after I got
him. They've wrestled together, they've slept together in a heap,
they've wsashed each other, but she has been a bit skittish around him,
too, this last week. But I'm seeing signs of her calming down with him, too.

Awww, poor little girl! She definitely misses Frank. She's never
been the oldest cat before, and has had to grow up quickly so that
Caliban has someone to look up to.

She knows you let the TED take Frank away. And yet she knows you love
and miss Frank, also. So she is conflicted in her feelings. She needs
to come to you on her own initiative and you must be open to her
whenever that time comes. That is my psychic reading for the day. I
hope it helps you understand her behaviour. Hugs and purrs for both of
you grieving. May you both have comforting dreams tonight.

Awww - poor Miranda to lose her Unka Frank and it probably doesn't make a
whole lot of sense to her.
Poor you! I know when Otis removed his affections after his teeth cleaning
for a few days that it knocked the stuffing out of me - I was very worried
about him because his behaviour was so different. He recovered soon enough
though and he's been great ever since.

Aww, poor sweetie. I believe they grieve. Shamrock looked around
for days for Shadow. Shadow didn't look around for Marley, but they
never got along. Shadow changed by becoming very clingy and lovey.
Maybe he missed him, but I doubt it. Maybe he just didn't like
change.
