Shamrock might try a new treatment for his skin problems

I talked to his dermatologist today to see if he can have another
Depo shot because he's having a flare-up.  Actually, he's been
having a flare-up for the last 3 weeks, but it isn't getting as bad
as quick as it usually does.  I attribute that to his allergy
shots.

Anyway, the dermatologist TED said there is a new treatment for
atopic (inhalent) allergies that was studied in dogs, but not cats,
but has had some positive results in cats, too. Only problem is
that it's expensive. Good news is that we should know within the
first month if this treatment will help him. The drug has to be
given for the rest of his life. I'm researching side-effects, but
so far none are as bad as the possible side-effects to the steroid
shots he gets way too often.

For the interested, it's by Novartis, called Atopica. A gelcap
given daily for the first month, everyother day for the second
month, and up to 2 times per week there-after.

I just so want this cat to finally find permanent peace. He's such
a sweetie. If he only knew how much everyone loves him. Everyone
asks about him, my mom is making one of those knitted cat beds for
him (and ONLY him she says).

When I sent her that link from here, she said that they'd probably
sell well at the church bazaare next year, and would try one out on
Shamrock. She said they're very easy to make, and she's blending in
Fun Fur, so it should look interesting.  LOL

Will do. The saga continues.

Another late response.  My newsreader wasn't able to get the parent of
this post.  What is Shamrock getting?
