I figured it was a bit cold last night, as I had 10 cats on the bed
with me and hubby. It was confirmed this am when I checked the temp.
Right now, in central NY at 7am eastern time (US) it is -8 F, which
is pretty dang cold for this early in winter! Almost too cold to
snow! The crew is going to be upset with me when I leave for work, as
I shut the kerosene heaters off. We leave our central furnace set at
50 F, so they won't freeze their little tushes off, but they are
always VERY glad to see us when we get home. <G>

I hear ya! Persia was extra snuggly this morning but she still booped me
with a soft little paw on the nose (several times!) when she deemed it was
time for me to feed her. Peaches joined in by chirping... okay, okay! I'll
get up!

Is 50 F OK for them? In winter I leave my thermostat at 55 F at night, but
I always wonder if that's warm enough for the cats. Unfortunately I can't
let them sleep with me most of the time or I would, but Sundance would keep
waking me up and that can affect my sleep disorder to the point where I
might be almost unable to sleep at all. It got so bad at one point that my
doctor put me on disability for two months until I could get it under
control, and I don't want that to happen again.

No, there are some cats that just can't sleep with humans, because they
don't let the humans sleep. My daughter had one like that.

IMHO 50 degrees might as well be 30. I leave the heat at approximately
the same temp day and night. In this way it doesn't take so long to heat
in the morning.

That's something DH & I differ about. He programs the thermostat to be
70 degrees from 7 am to 10 pm and 65 from 10 p.m to 7 am. Sixty-five
degrees is pretty frigging cold if you ask me. Anyway, I think whatever
energy is saved during the night gets canceled out because the unit has
to work so hard in the morning to catch up.
OK, we're weenies, I know. I just can't stand the house to be below 70
degrees.
