What a lovely clean boy!
Claudius has taken to spending time sitting in the kitchen sink watching the
cold tap in the hope that the Silver Snake will come out for him to swat.
Somehow the wet just doesn't seem to bother him. Hunter's tunnel vision?
It's good to see you enjoying the youngsters so much: it would have been all
too easy to withdraw.

Caliban still tries to bite the neck off the silver snake. Getting wet
doesn't seem to bother him, either, he just looks very surprised each time.

I feel empty and numb and distanced. I watch the kittens play, and
sometimes I even laugh at their antics, but I feel I'm not all present.
I lived with Frank and Nikki for such a long time - most of my adult
life - that I'd started to identify through them. Now that they're gone,
I feel like I don't quite know who I am any more. I hope I can form a
bond like I had with Frank and Nikki with the youngsters here in time.

Hardly surprising you feel so empty as F&N were such a big part of your life
for such a while. I had the same trouble when Kensey joined me after Aries,
who had seen me from 28 to 43 through a LOT of troubles. But it DID get
better.
Honest!
Stay with it, enjoy your new babies as best you can, and sloooooowly they
will fill the void and your bond with them will strengthen.

I haven't read it yet, it's waiting there among other 'must read' books.
I've enjoyed other books by her, though, so pretty sure I will enjoy
this one. Some of them have been hard to put down. Have you read 'Oryx
and Crake'?

No, I haven't read that one. I didn't much get into "The Blind
Assassin", but I've loved her other books, especially "The Robber Bride"
which is one of my all time favourites.

I didn't much care for 'The Blind Assassin', either. I read 'The Robber
Bride' for a seminar at uni, and thought that was one of her greater
novels, along with 'A Handmaid's Tale' and 'Oryx and Crake'. I like
'Life Before Man' because it has a quote from one of my Dad's books. ;o)

It's not about cats, btw. But you probably know that. I just didn't
want anyone to think that and be disappointed.

Cute! I came across a picture of Mithu in our apartment sink the other
day, and showed it to DD. I asked her who it was, and she said "Mithu!

You can even upload pics of your own cat in the sink. I think Caliban
would be a welcome addition to their site. :o)
