Yesterday was a sad day for most of us here. It was doubly sad for me
because it was the anniversary of my beloved Circe's death in 1994.
The night I took him in, I gave him everything he ever loved -- baby
food, ice cream, turkey, and catnip. I took him back to the building
he was born in, and had lived in with me for five years. I let him
run around the hallways as he usually did every time he escaped out
the door (his favorite game), and then took him to the vet. On the
way, the song "Take Me Home Tonight" (I can't remember who it's by),
came on the radio, and I will never forget that song playing on
Circe's last trip to the vet.
Yesterday, before the snow fell, I was running errands. As I passed a
restaurant, I heard a song.
"Take Me Home Tonight".
It really hit me, and I stopped for a moment, then said "Hi, Circe,"
and waved. I felt like he must have been saying hello to me, and it
brought tears, but was a wonderful gift as well.
