You are sending out a virus with your links.  My computer keeps shutting
them off (and shutting itself off).  STOP posting links.  Scan your PC for
viruses, spyware, adware, etc.

I don't think it's possible to spread virii that way. The links work
fine for me. Perhaps it's something in the actual page (local6.com) that
your puter doesn't like?

Unless it was on the site with the Christmas light show.  Your right Victor
you can't send a virus by a link unless it leads to a download

Just in case I do have something .   I am scanning my computer right now
with online and outside sources I doesn't hurt anything to be sure  nothing
yet except cookies.

It is the many and varied "http" urls it posts. There are many websites
which will digitally send viruses to their visitors. Who can be aware of
them all? I don't believe NMR knows this, but because many of  websites its
strange stories come from are so unusual, I stopped going to them......and I
have five firewalls/virus-stoppers, none of which "shut down" nor "shut off"
my PC. I don't think the viruses from the websites are necessarily in NMR's
PC nor that they originate there.

You are right dnr I keep forgetting sometimes about the website I visit.
that is why I want to know what links the poster is talking about?

I am doing the same as you   I am running multiple firewalls, spyware and
virus scanners.  I don't download anything unless it is scanned multiple
times ( got burned before years ago learned my lesson )

I have not heard of a program that shuts the computer down

and just finished the scans nothing but cookies  not spyware, no adware, no
mal ware, no virus, no root codes  nothing but cookies

the scans used
Norton's anti virus both system and online
MacAfee's online virus scanner
xoftspy    spyware remover
spyware detector
noadware spyware remover
ad-adware remover
trend micro anti spyware and anti virus
avg online scanner and anti virus
spyware nuker
Rootcode detector
RC detective
Shields up
Source code
Anti-hacker tools

There is nothing wrong with the links you've posted--at all. I run a
hardware firewall,
two software firewalls, two types of antivirus software and a great
anti-spyware
program.

There are viruses and trojans that will "shut down" your PC and are
programmed to do the same to whomever in your addy-book will bite the bait
of an appealing attachment or email from *you*! Some of the better hackers -
human effort here - can reduce your PC to a smoking, forever-inoperable ruin
at their whim.
I respectfully suggest you spend less time surfing for wierd
website news and dig into your many security-ware programs' subscribers'
information on viruses and trojans and their capabilities. Congratulations
on your choice to run multiple security programs; a near-necessity these
days. I am still unable in spite of mine to dispose of all
obnoxious spam automatically, the spammers as well as us, have learned a lot
and varied their techniques, LOL.

I said program not virus or Trojan :-)
I know about that they can shut off your computer  or destroy it.  I  got
hit years ago by a virus called fire storm  it fired everything but the
second hard drive.  the tech found the virus hiding in the mirror image.

I get the subscription both in snail mail and email.  I got to keep up on
the new stuff  I have a business server and several other computers that are
run by family that have no idea what the difference between the keyboard and
the mouse

Dully noted about the web surfing  but what fun would that be I just won't
post links to them unless I know they are safe from now one

An impressive list! Have you tried "Spybot Search and Destroy" or
"SpywareBlaster"? The first is a scanner / immunizer and the second a
"shield" that doesn't allow nasties aboard.

I tried spybot   but it failed to find some cookies that ad-ware found

Noware comes with a shield and spydetecter comes with a registry and
homepage protector.
Rc detective is a great scanner it searches for root codes in my email
incoming and outgoing

I only run all of them when think there is a problems or in cases as above.

https://www.grc.com/  this link takes you to shields up  the creator of
ad-ware  it checks all your ports  there is also programs on there to help
in security

I wonder if Jill does have some kind of spyware or virus already
active, and certain sites trigger it?

I wonder too. There are some nasties out there, some that download
spyware applications to your computer without your knowledge.
Virtumonde or something like that for Firefox, and one that I can't
remember the name of that targets IE. I was plagued with popups one
day for something called WinFixer 2005, an annoying thing! Doing
some research to figure out how to get rid of it led me to an Ad-
spy- mal- ware remover called Spy Sweeper from Webroot
(www.webroot.com) and it found all kinds of stuff that Adaware
didn't find. Adaware found Virtumonde, but even though it said it
removed it, it didn't.  Spy Sweeper sets up shields to keep you
from getting "reinfected" and I've been happy with it so far. It
isn't free, but they have a free 14 day trial to at least remove
what you have now.
