Well, I just scooped the litter boxes and it appears that everyone is back
to normal - all stools are solid and all pee clumps are the correct size and
number for each cat. Thanks for the purrs, they worked again!! It either
was just a stress-caused, temporary problem, or (after reading about this in
another post here) it could even have been an anal gland expression.
Speaking of litter box offerings, it's funny but I can tell which cat left
which offering.
Bandit, 14, tends to "hold it" all day while she sleeps on my pillow then
leaves a *huge* pee clump - usually just 1 or 2 a day.
Demi, 6 sleeps almost as much but is a bit more active so the next smallest
clumps are hers - usually 2 or 3 a day.
Jessie, 5, is *much* more active than Bandit and Jessie and tends leave even
smaller clumps - usually 3 or 4 a day.
Sammy, 5 1/2 months, is still a kitten, albeit a *large* kitten at 8 pounds,
leave the smallest clumps - usually 4 or 5 a day. Their other offering are
just as identifiable, but I won't get into that here to save you the
grossness!! ;>

That'a an amazing talent. Even with one cat, I only have a vague idea
of how many offerings are made a day, plus, I've never actually
watched one of those offerings in the process of being made. You must
follow your cats around and scoop every hour. :)

LOL, well, not quite. I have 4 litterboxes and each cat seems to have a
preference for one. I only scoop once a day unless some especially
scent-ful offering was made.

Interesting. I have two litterboxes. Both cats use both, but they prefer
one for 'number ones' and the other for 'number twos'. :o)

Isn't it? ;o) Now if I could just get them to do number ones in the
larger box and number twos in the smaller one, I would be quite happy.

I can tell too. Maybe it's a "mother" thing.

This makes me so glad that it's possible for my two to go out and do number
1 & 2 outside!
The only time I had to confine them overnight was when Boyfriend was booked
in for his snip the next day, in case he got wind of it, and was out in the
great beyond when I got up..
I didn't have a litter tray, so I used an old washing up bowl, which was
round - not ideal - and filled it with garden earth.
BF kept asking to go out, but I wouldn't let him. He became quite desperate
and miaowed his head off, I pretended not to understand.
In the end, as the bowl was small, he perched his bottom on the soil, his
front feet outside and did a huge poo. Then he apologised.
I love this cat.

<Grin> There can't be any other group where this message would be good
news. I'm glad everything is back to normal, and I hope "Jeanne" stays
well away from your MIL.
