It's been 2 years since I bought Peaches the lovebird; she was a baby bird
(about 8 weeks old) when I brought her home in December, 2003.

I have some nice wooden beads and some other plastic ones sent to me by a
friend along with some colourful pipe cleaners.  I think I'll string a new
toy for her when the sun comes up!  And give her a slice of Gala apple or a
bit of broccoli to chew on.  She devoured a nice spray of millet seed
yesterday :)

Tell the FF she's mostly feathers; not even enough meat like on a mouse!

Happy chirpday Peaches! It sounds like your Meowmy is giving you lots of
treats and love on your special day. I have to admit I must be having a
mental day today in your honor. When I read the subject line I thought
"Peaches has a baby? When did this happen?"

Hope you get to take a bath and splash around a bit - but don't get Persia
wet! We know how Persia don't like water-baths!!!

Oooh, hope I'm not to late to wish Peaches a Hoppy Chirp Day! Or is it
Hoppy Bird Day?  Or Hoppy Perch Day?

When I saw the heading, I wondered what you'd consider to be a bird's
birthday; the day the egg was lain or the day the bird hatched?
Whichever, Hoppy Bird-day, Peaches!

I guess I should call it her "adoption day" since I've no exact idea but she
was hatched in October, 2003.  Most birds aren't sold until they are at
least 6-8 weeks old.  I'm very familiar with parakeets/budgerigars but
Peaches is the first lovebird I've ever had.  I did quite a bit of research
before I bought her.  To be honest, I don't know that she's a SHE.  Unlike
parakeets/budgerigars, you can't tell by looking at them.  It requires a DNA
test.  Frankly, it doesn't matter.  If she doesn't care, I don't! :)  She
took a bath in her water dish and has been happily munching on a slice of
Gala apple.  Right now she's chirping up a storm so I'd say she's feeling
pretty good.  Lovebirds, which are the smallest of the African parrots can
live up to 30 years.  She's still a baby!  She'll probably outlive me :D
