A Carl Story

Hi,

As many of you know, my husband Carl passed away a couple of weeks ago. At
the memorial we asked people to share Carl stories and there were a lot of
good ones! Here is one I'd like to share with this group:

Carl called me at work one day. He had gone back to sleep after I'd left
that morning and woke up in a panic. He couldn't breathe and he couldn't
move his legs! He lay there for about 5 minutes, scared to death that he'd
had a stroke. Finally he looked down and discovered:

Felix, our huge fluffy (part Maine coon) tuxedo cat - fast asleep on his
chest.
Eddie, the tiny grey tabby (making the most of her three pounds) - asleep on
his ankles.

Neither was pleased to be woken up by him laughing his head off.

Missing Carl and Felix very much.

PS: One of Carl's cousins came up to me at the memorial and said "You are so
much prettier than I thought! I've only seen pictures of you." Please keep
that in mind when you see the photo of me on Carl's website.

I feel so bad for you. Man, he looks like the MOST fun person. And you look
so YOUNG! I can't believe this has to happen. My head knows it does, but my
heart aches for you.

Fi,

Thank you for sharing this story.  It is delightful.

In case I haven't already offered them, my condolences on the loss of your
husband.  I lost mine 20 years ago.  He was 56 at the time.  All I can say
is that the times where the pain is strong get farther apart, and eventually
the pain becomes less.  It isn't easy to build a new life, but you can do
it.

Thanks for sharing that! I'm so glad you can share the funny stories,
it helps so much. I lost my son (23 years old) nearly 3 years ago and
I try to share stories about him, but mostly it's just in person
rather than typing about him. It is theraputic.

best wishes and hugs and purrs.

Thank you for sharing this.  It must be difficult to get through and I won't
pretend I can imagine.  But it is obvious you loved each other very much and
that will help you get through this.  He's still with you and always will
be.
