Received the following from a longtime friend (her previous cat,
Cinnamon, also died at 23yo):

"My sad news is that last night about 10:30 p.m. my little baby
girl.. NUTMEG..at 23 1/2 years.... died peacefully and as quiet as she
was in life...lying by the wb/stove.  Brooklyn was lying nearby!!!!! She
will be terribly missed.
Yesterday, earlier in the day Janice dug a hole, down near the
stream, and even though it snowed here last evening i will bury her
today."

Peacefully in sleep is the absolute best way to go. Purrs for sweet Nutmeg's
Janice in her grief.

Oh my what a long life!! Purrs for your friend. Even though I am sure
it was a delight to have such a long lived kitty it must be terribly
hard.

How sad :-( of course 23½ years is a _very_ good age, but that doesn't
lessen the pain of losing her. I will light a candle for Nutmeg.

I''m so sorry to hear about your friend's cat.  Sending purrs for a
gentle journey to the Bridge for Nutmet, and healing purrs for your
friend.

I call that a long life, and a gentle, peaceful natural passing over
the bridge.  But naturally, such a long-lived kitty will leave an empty
place behind in the hearts who loved her. I hope Nutmeg's passage over
the bridge was gentle and natural, and my sympathies to her hoomins.

Healing purrs for your friend, and peaceful purrs for Nutmeg to smooth her
walk along the Bridge. It's never easy...the dear cat must have been sorely
needed on earth for her to have stayed here so long before going into
retirement!

Blessed be,
Baha
