Cathi - 04 Dec 2005 12:30 GMT My name is Sir Bertie, and I've had access to RPCA for a couple of weeks now, but didn't want to appear pushy. Please, call me Bertie.
I've managed to work my way into a household with three other cats, but I'm doing very well, all things considering. The other boycat, Jasper, isn't very keen on my presence, but does tend to spend a lot of time outside or downstairs (I've found a nice warm corner upstairs). There are two girlcats, Carrie and Fenchurch. Carrie has come to see me a couple of times, and grumbles about interlopers, but again she spends a lot of her time downstairs. She tells me that as she's an old cat I should show her some respect.
Fenchurch is, like myself, classed as an "interloper", having come here from The Out some months back. She can be a bit rough, and her language is appalling for a girlcat, but we get on OK; we chase each other around the bedrooms, and quite often settle down for a snooze near each other. Both the others have lived here a long time, and I think Fenchurch appreciates having younger company.
As for me, I'm three years old, and a Bengal tabby cross, or so I'm told. If you'd like to see a photo, look here:

I know the female hoomin here likes spending time on RPCA, so I thought I'd drop by and say hello. Looking forward to hearing from you all,

Looking forward to hearing from you all, Welcome, Bertie. New kitties and new hoomins are always welcome here.
I'm Harri Roadcat, and I live with 5 other kitties and 2 hoomins insouthern Catifurnia. My fur family is Cleopatra Silvercat, a 10 year old longhair who's a bit grumpy, Amelia T Cat, a 5 year old tortie shorthair who is a MAJOR grump, Tabitha Flufflytail, a 2.5 year old black longhair, Samuel Redcat, a 2.5 year old orange tabby, and Ranger Greykitten, a 9 month old grey shorthair boy cat. I'm a 1 year old orange tabby girl.
I know what you're talking about with kitty family dynamics. I started out life with this family spending all my time with Paw - we rode together in a great big truck for 7 months. When I got to adjust to the family, the two oldest girlcats were not very welcoming. But I soon gotthem used to me, and even showed them that I'm a Tough Girl Kitty and can stand up for myself.
Glad to hear that you've got your home situation firmly in paw. I lok forward to hearing more about you and your family.

Thank you for your welcome, but it's only me who's new here! The hoomin has been posting for some years. I do hope I can get along with the other cats. Jasper tells me I have to respect him too, as he's not in the best of health, as well as being Top Cat around here. Being a very well-mannered cat, I shall try, but I won't stand for nonsense!

Please, call me Bertie. Welcome, Bertie. You picked a good home. I did wonder when your new Meowmie mentioned your name in a previous post if I'd missed something. You're quite a gorgeous fella. Hope the older cats soon learn to accept you.

Well, I guess it's the hoomin's turn to write something, as Bertie is currently sleeping off his breakfast.
As you may recall we went to the Isle of Wight for a few days recently, and put the furballs into a local cattery. Sharn, the owner, also works for Cat Protection, and usually has at least one temporary resident looking for a home. And my usual reaction is "go away".
This year, Bertie was busy introducing himself to Rich before Sharn had had the chance to sing his praises. And Rich was smitten, As was I. We talked about him as we drove to Portsmouth. And over the weekend. And on the way back. And by the time we got home, we'd decided that if he was still available, and Sharn was happy, we'd take him. He was, she was, we did.
He is absolutely gorgeous, and very friendly and affectionate. Quite capable of taking a flying leap and landing on one's shoulder, or stretching up on his back paws for a kiss.
Dunno if the photo shows it on your respective monitors, but his eyes are blue, and very crossed. And his voice is a bit Siamese-y too. It's hard to feel miserable if that goofy face is staring at you!
The older two aren't terribly enamoured of him, although we've not had the squabbles that they had with Fenchurch. He's rather bigger, and much less cantankerous than she is; I do think a lot of their fights were caused by her as much as by Jasper and Carrie! As for Fenny herself, they are frequently to be found snoozing on the same bed, although not curled up in a purring heap, and play together, chasing around the upstairs rooms.
Anyhow, I can hear a horde of stampeding elephants in the next room, so I'd better investigate ....

I suspect when he's made himself at home, he will be quite a handful.

Welcome to the Group, and the senior Hoolikitten Chapter '03.
We all think you're a fine figure of a fellow, obviously lots of Asian blue blood in your veins, and will be a fine co-ruler of your hoomins.

Cathi - 09 Dec 2005 23:00 GMT Well, thank you all for your kind welcome. This really is a nice place to be. The other cats told me so, so I guess I'd better agree with them.
The hoomin at the other place came to see me yesterday - the place where I was before. She picked me up and cuddled me, and seemed very pleased to see me. She talked to my new hoomin for a while, and they passed some bits of paper back and forth, and then other hoomin left, leaving me with my new hoomin. I like it here. I get lots of attention, and Fenchurch lets me chase her.
I found this picture of me on a website trying to find me a new home: I think it shows my blue eyes to their best advantage.
