We've had a cold snap here - in the teens-twenties F - so in  order to *not*
blow a fuse (or worse, start a fire) by running multiple space heaters on
the back porch for Betty, Barney & Bam-Bam, we moved them into our bedroom.
Kept them in the carrier for a couple of hours, until they got over the
fright of being moved - then let them out while we went to bed.  I could
hear them occasionally eating, using the litterbox, playing with each other
on occasion during the night - but in the morning, they were all three
cuddled up together on my jeans (left on the floor the previous evening).

I brought them fresh food (they chowed down), combed them for fleas (which
is not easy when they are all squirmy, I prefer to do it when they're drowsy
from napping) and got 2 off Bam-Bam :(.  Then I went back to bed.  Was
almost back asleep on my left side, when I felt this tap-tap-tapping on my
butt.  Reached down with my hand...Barney!  He's the smallest (weighs at
least 5 ounces less than Betty or Bam-Bam), but he's the first to do
anything!  First to climb up my legs.  First to climb up on the bed... Well,
actually, Bam-Bam was the first to use the big litterbox, but Barney wasn't
far behind him on that.

I played with Barney for a minute, then here comes Bam-Bam, up on the
bed.... followed closely by Betty.  I give up on getting any more sleep, so
decided to read.  Who can sleep with three little wiggly-wrestly 'monsters'
on the bed?  Finally, they clamed down some, and Barney settled near my
shoulder, purring loudly.  Bam-Bam decided the laundry pile was better, and
was down there, and Betty was nestled by my hip.  I reached down to pet her,
and she rolled over purring for belly rubbins, doing upside-downy-head in
the process!

Last night DH *insisted* on locking the kittens in the carrier for the
night.  I was upset by this.  He was afraid that we would kick or crush one
in our sleep, so I consented.  They pretty much slept though the night, with
an occasional door rattle or squeak of protest (I think they were wrestling
more than anything).  This morning, when I let them out to feed them.
Bam-Bam made a beeline for the litterbox, Barney climbed my legs in an
effort to get closer to the food I was trying to dole out, and Betty ran
willy-nilly all over before she smelled the food - it took only a minute
before they were all three chowing down.  About 5 minutes later, they were
doing usual kitten stuff: Exploring, pouncing, playing, wrestling.... but
Barney came back to the plate for 'second breakfasts'.  His belly was tight
when he finished... at least until he belched in my face!

They are such little stinkers - you can't help but love them.  This is why I
don't foster for the local shelter:  I fall in love with them!  I told DH
that, unfortunately for us, kittens aren't born ugly!

And that's why! ;)   My dad always said babies are cute so you don't
kill them.  ;)

Ah, to be ankle-deep in bitties!

What a great update!! Must've been really sweet to find the 3 of them
curled up together on your jeans. And Barney purring next to your
shoulder. They must be so adorable.

It's been a while since I've had kittens, because the last time I did,
as a foster mom, I ended up keeping one! So, no more fostering for me.

During our move across country, DP had the bitties, and they were maybe
5-6 weeks old.  Anyway, he had to stay at a hotel because the drive
between our old place and our new place was about 23 hours of driving
if you did it non-stop.  He didn't even try.  And I don;t think he
slept too well that night because he was afraid he would roll over and
crush the kittens.  They hopped right up on that hotel bed and fell
asleep in the hollow between his cheek and his shoulde,r nuzzling his
neck...
